"Ronnie. You better start explaining!" I growled.
"What is Eric doing here?!?"The ginger gasped for breath still recovering from being strangled moments ago. He motioned for everyone to sit as he gained his breath back.
"Subject...37B.." He huffed.
"Was captured..as an attempt..for us reapers to gain. Better knowledge on the demon kind.""How exactly do you obtain this knowledge?" Claude growled from the sidelines.
"Any mean necessary" Ronnie stated.
"That's just code for torture. You torture them don't you! It says here he's subject 37B. So there's got to at least be another 36 before him. Or did you do each letter of alphabet to combine with a number!! Your sick! Torturing that many people is just inhumane!" Julie shouted out her eyes glaring with hatred.
"In case you forgot sweetpea, you the only one here who is actually human" Ronnie retorted and Julie looked like she was actually about to cry.
"Exactly! I'm the only human here, but maybe what you need is a human! A human to make you all realise you don't have to be monsters! You don't need to do the things you do! That's goes for all of you" She exclaimed
"Ronnie, where is Eric?!" I growl completely ignoring Julie's little rant, right now that didn't matter. All that did was finding Eric.
"Would it be cliché to say the dungeon?" He shrugged.
"Take me there!" I demanded. I needed to see Eric. Needed to finally finish him once and for all.
Ronnie stood up and began to walk out the room. Never in my life had I followed anyone as quick. I remember Sebastian following close behind me, Claude had remained with Julie in the library. I vaguely recall her saying she didn't want to see.
"Kitten, don't do anything stupid" Sebastian's voice sounded by ear as his arm snaked round my waist.
"What? Like you did back in the library" I smiled at him nudging him slightly.
"That was rash of me. Probably not the best thing I could have done" He smirked.
"My face still hurts from when Julie dropped kicked me""Serves you right" I smile.
With his arm around me, we followed Ronnie deeper into the Reapers stronghold. Every Time we passed someone Ronnie would simply flash this pass saying we were allowed there, but that didn't stop the glares. Whispers could be heard and they all seemed directed at me.
"That's the Half Breed" and "She's responsible for the Massacre" could all be heard clear as day as I passed."Subject 37B" Ronnie stated, then I realised he was actually talking to another Reaper.
"We need to see him, he is vital to the case regarding the Holy Sword""He's in the back cell. He's currently rambling on about his Pet. So be careful when you go there"
Ronnie just nodded and took the key from the reaper in front of him.As the distance to his cell got shorter and shorter, the sound of Eric's wails got louder and louder.
"I need to warn my Pet. She needs to be safe! I need to speak to her! Get her please"Anger bubbled up in the pit of my stomach. Just hearing his voice made my skin crawl and body itch. The last time I saw him he was torturing me, now I would be the one to kill him. I was ready to do it. Ready to put an end to one nightmare chapter in my life. Only thing was when Ronnie opened the door to his cell, I couldn't move.
Not through fear, but through shock. There was the man who had made my life a living hell, who had tortured me and taken everything that was precious to me. And for the first time in my life, I didn't want to kill him. I didn't want to beat him to a small insignificant pulp. I wanted to save him.
His jet black hair was no longer in a slick back ponytail, it had been cut right down short. Bits of it were sticking up at all angles and it was caked in dirt, blood and sweat. His usually striking bright pink eyes were now dull, lifeless and had sunken back in his head. His skin was more dirt than flesh and his body was diminished back to resemble that of a walking skeleton.
He had never looked more dead in the entire time I had known him.
As much as I hated him I couldn't bare to see him like this.Upon the sound of the lock clicking Eric's head bowed to the floor. He didn't even look up to see who had entered. He just bowed his head in fear.
"I'm sorry. Sorry for making so much noise. Please. Please don't hurt me" He begged and I could see him shaking in fear. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why I did what I did next. I couldn't help it. Something about seeing him like that had my heart aching. Slowly I padded over to him. Sebastian tried to stop me but I just shrugged him off. I needed to get to him.
"No please" Eric cried as he finally heard the sound of my footsteps.
"Eric" I breathed.
"It's me"His head shot up and his eyes filled up with a sense of relief.
"Pet? Is that...is that really you?" He asked his voice breaking as his tears threatened to choke him."It's me" I say reaching out to touch his shoulder.
He angled his head round to rest it upon my hand.
"I'm so glad your safe. I'm so sorry. So so sorry"He just continued to sob as he rested his head on my hand. It was the I realised he had been chained to the wall. Both his hands and feet were chained. I growled at Ronnie to give me the key.
"I don't think that the best thing to do" Sebastian told me as I went to unlock the shackles around Eric's bony wrists.
"He's been brutally tortured Sebastian. He so weak even crying is draining him, I think I'm going to be alright if I remove the ones from his wrist" I told him.
"Don't forget he's the one who tortured you. More than once" He pointed out.
"Never for 40 years solid though. And as much as I hate to admit it, he saved me once. Besides it would make me a monster if I just left him here" I stated turning the key in the lock on his shackles.
The cold rusty metal dropped to the floor and Eric's arms flung around my neck. He buried his head into my neck and cried. My skin became drenched with his tears and he cried my name over and over again.
"I'm so sorry" He repeated.I began to run small circles on his back.
"It's okay. Your okay. I've got you. Your safe" I whispered. He sobbed once more before finally collapsing from exhaustion. He fell into my arms and that's when I let my single tear fall.
