-Recap-

Mom smiled smugly and patted his right cheek. “Good!”

I stifled my laugh. Whoaaa . . . Mom was so great! One glare and she owned James! I had to learn that technique.

I waited patiently on my bed for my surprise, while chatting with my family. We were just catching up with their school’s life, works, or college life. It was fun, but I didn’t capture everything they said. I was too busy thinking about the surprise. I only laughed when they laughed, and just nodded at some parts. My Mom seemed to understand it, because she just rolled her eyes at me. I just grinned sheepishly at her.

I looked around and felt the happiness bubbling in my heart. Here was my family. I looked at James and found that he was busily chatting with Mom. Based on her red face and shy gestures, I knew what they were talking about. They were always that romantic and kept doing cheesy things all the time, but at least they were happy. Mom kept smiling and that’s what matters most to me.

Then, I looked at Chase and Kyle. They were in deep discussion. I wondered what they were talking about. When Kyle punched the air, I knew that they were talking about how he punched Vince. Chase laughed at him and they seemed to enjoy their conversation. Ugh – they were a little bit violence. I would get angry at them, if they really punched Matt. Sorry Vince!

Jake and Ben were sitting on my bed and playing monopoly. They had brought the board game from home and asked me to join them. I agreed, even though my focus wasn’t on them. They nudged me a few times when it was my turn. They whined and told me to pay attention. I grinned sheepishly at them and threw the dice. Well, I better pay attention, before they started to throw tantrums.

Even though I was playing and moving my pawn, I still tried to look at the hottie twins. I wanted to know what they did too. I tried to multi-task here, even though it was pretty hard with the noise. Logan and Ryan were talking to themselves. The way they talked was too annoying for me.  From their excited face, I knew that they were talking about girls. There was not a day without girls in their life. But James said that their activities with girls were toned down a little, ever since I became their sister. It was because Mom kept scolding them; she told them about karma. What they did could backfire to the person they loved. Well, it was better than nothing. Then I heard something that sparked my interest.

“Hey, dude, I can’t believe that he’s dead.”

“Yeah, it’s been a few days since the accident and yet, the school just told us.”

“He’s my fave teacher.”

“I know right, he’s the one that always helped us got away from our punishment.”

“Yeah, the sad thing is no one survived. They just had a new addition for their family. He just told us the happy news.”

What was going on? Did someone die? I cleared my throat and asked them, “Logan, Ryan?” They looked at me and asked me what at the same time.

“Do you mind telling me what’s going on?” I asked them.

They looked at each other and nodded. They almost answered my questions, when James announced loudly, “It’s time to go, kids. I want Rose to rest.”

“Wait a minute, Dad. Logan and Ryan are going to tell me something.” I begged him.

“Rose, it’s almost eight p.m. They have school tomorrow. It can wait for a day, right?” He asked me and me, being the good child I was,  I could only nod at him. Even though my mind kept screaming, can you wait just for a few minutes? I pouted, but there was nothing else I could do. Why did everyone keep interrupting the answer to my questions?
