Eyes on You 26

-Recap-

I could hear Vince mumbling to James, “You get a scary wife there, dude.”

James grinned at him, “I know right?”

I could see the friendship there, at least, one problem was solved. James. From my family? Only Chase and Kyle left. Mom told us to go with her back to my room, while Vince and James were having a bonding time. We followed her and looked back at our two old men. They were laughing to each other. What a great day!

“Mom, is it okay to leave them alone?” I asked her, when we arrived at my room.

“Let them be, honey. Men like them love to use fist-fight to get to know each other. I bet they are going to be a good friend soon. At least, your father won’t be a problem anymore, right?” She winked at me.

“I know and I am grateful because of that.” I grinned sheepishly. “But there are still two people left, Chase and Kyle.” I sighed to myself and Matt grabbed my right hand.

“It’s okay, Rose. We are in this together. Maybe luck will be on our side again, just like before.” He was grinning widely, when he said that. I rolled my eyes at him and nodded.

The three of us were talking, when mom asked Matt. “Is the scandal true? Your brother’s wife was cheating on your brother, while she was pregnant? And they got into accident that day?” Wow . . . Mom! That was pretty blunt.

But before I said something, I felt like I was pulled by the memory again. I could hear that Matt and mom were calling me, but I couldn’t answer them. Something held me back. I tried to ask for help and there was no use. I couldn’t emit any sounds at all. I looked around, because I wanted to know where she took me at this moment.

I should have known! She took me to the graveyard again, and she leaded me to her grave like before.  The diary was ready and without a thought I picked it up and read the opened page.

Dear Diary,

I’m happy.  Dean proposed to me just now and I didn’t wait to say yes. You know what? The other thing that makes me happy is Matt. I can see that he’s falling in love to another girl. He doesn’t see me with a sad expression like before and never dodge me anymore. He always gives me a genuine smile. I know in a heart-beat that he is over me now.

In a way, it makes me sad. First love will always get a special place in our heart, right? But, I am not going to be selfish and keep him to myself. He deserves to be happy. What makes me sad is I know what my life will be after this. I will only be happy for a little while and –poof- I will be gone.

At least, it will give Matt a benefit. I will give these eyes to his crush. I hope they will be happy.

She knew about what would happen to her. She didn’t actually sacrifice her life for me, but she gave me the best presents that I’ve ever received. Her eyes. I was really grateful for that. She thought like Matt, first love will always get a special place in their heart. At least, from this, I knew that his feeling was true. There was no point for her to lie, right?

I sighed in relief. He loves me. He really loves me.

What made me confused was the scandal? I knew that she really loved Dean. How could she have an affair? It didn’t make any sense to me. What is actually going on that day? While I was thinking, I didn’t realize that the next page was already opened. I realized when I felt something nudge my hand, when I looked what it was, there was nothing there. Creepy! I tried to shake the scary thought away, and read the next entry.
