Maya slipped out of bed the following morning as slowly as she could to avoid waking Luke. She sighed softly as she listened to the beautiful songs the birds sang as they went about their early morning routine.

She went to the bathroom and got ready for the day and then afterward she wondered around the house fixing this and that until she found herself standing in front of one of the guest bedrooms, or more specifically, the one she had cleared out for prayer. It had been a very long time since she last prayed and she felt guilty for having lost sight of the more important things in her life.

It only took a second for her to make her decision and then she stepped quickly into the room and then suddenly her burdens were not so heavy any more.

She remembered the days when all she had was prayer. When everything was speedily moving from bad to worst she remembered getting on her knees and making a petition to The One who has never left her neither will He ever leave her.

When everything had seemed to be going wrong He was a constant, never ending alarm clock telling her, reminding her that her purpose has yet to be fulfilled and that no matter how she feels she was and will never be alone.

Many times when there had been a jack hammer pounding relentlessly at her soul and her mind, pushing her with all the strength it could muster to give up, His voice had been a guiding light out in the desert. He was complete stillness, unwavering in His commands and promises.

I will never leave you nor forsake you.

Her present situation was like a wakeup call. She now realized her response to the threat on the previous day was unnecessary, uncalled for and foolish.

Who shall she fear when everything that is raised up against her shall fall? Why should she worry and complain and stress when she had the undefeated and most powerful army on her side of the battle field?

No evil shall befall her and neither shall any plague come nigh her dwelling place when she has placed her trust and complete faith in The One who never disappoints and who never slumbers nor sleeps.

With those thoughts burning a path through the webs of defeat, lie and fear that had woven itself into her mind she fell on her knees and she prayed as she had never done before.

She had already won both the battle and the war. All she had to do now was to give God thanks for the victory and watch Him work.

All things are possible with Him.

It was a moment after that Luke found her on her knees. He stood at the door and waited for her. His heart felt lighter just standing there watching her pray. Maya had always been the Christian. The faithful prayer. He couldn't quite get himself to give up total control to someone he couldn't see. Of course M had always tried to convert him but so far he was not entirely convinced.

A moment later she finished her prayer. Her eyes opened and she smiled serenely at him. His M was back and he was thankful for that. She made to get to her feet and he quickly went to her side to help her up. Her feet were always numb. He had learnt to always be by her side whenever she prayed on her knees after she had fallen over when they were younger.

She laughed when he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"You remembered", she said grinning at him.

"I remember everything about you M. How could I possibly forget anything about you?" he asked softly.

She smiled softly at him and then wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him close to her body. He wound strong arms around her waist. He couldn't help but to thank whatever force that was out there for placing her back into his arms safe and sound.
