"Who the hell are you?" he growled into the man's face.

"And why shouldn't I kill you for touching my woman," he snarled into the man's face.

Luke was so angry he couldn't even see straight. His fists itched to rearrange the features of the imbecile he held captive in his hands.

The one who dared to touch his woman. The one who laid his hands, much less his mouth, on the love of his life.

The only message getting through to his brain was kill! Kill! Kill and he was loving the sound of it.

A soft touch was what woke him from the violent haze that had settled over his brain. Her words were what caused him to slacken his grip on the man who was now turning blue from lack of oxygen.

"Luke please let him go. He's turning blue", he heard her beg him.

A took more than five minutes for him to finally release his hold, dropping the man at his feet. Then, the next moment, he had Maya wrapped tightly in his arms as he breathed deeply to settle his anger.

Five minutes later he released her.

It was 3:35 PM.

Coughing drew his attention to the man on the floor and his advancing footsteps were hindered by Maya suddenly taking a hold of his hand, rooting him in his place.

" Maya! Are you just going to stand there holding the hand of the man who had just tried to strangle me?! You're more of an idiot than I thought", the man shouted as he coughed.

"You're a big useless idiot who--

His rant was cut off in the next instance. Luke had shaken off Maya's hand and then he had walked over and planted the heels of his timberland booted right foot into the crotch of the unknown man.

" Shut up!" he snarled at him.

He howled in pain as he cupped himself, causing a multitude of both men and women to come running out of the diner to see what was happening.

When they saw one man on the ground and then the next, who was a giant of a man, standing over him with his nose flaring and fire pouring from his eyes many ran back inside while others removed themselves from the scene altogether.

"Luke no!" Maya exclaimed as she grabbed his arm.

"Don't he's my fiance!" she gasped.

That had Luke freezing as if he'd been paralyzed. Those four words alone seemed to deflate him and his shoulders drooped even before his eyes, full of incredulity, turned on her, the electrified burn of his eyes pausing her where she stood.

"You're what?" he hissed.

"He's my f--fiance," she stuttered out.

"Or at least I-- I think he is," she said with her head bowed to the ground.

"I'm going to make you regret this Maya. You remember I always punish you when you were bad. I can't wait to do that again. You were always so reliant and submissive and easy. I hope you remember what I like when I come for you again," he said as he dragged himself back into the car he was in and race out of the parking lot.

Maya fell on her knees as the car left, not caring about bruising her knees. Her head then fell into her knees as she began to sob.

Luke stood there frozen, knowing the implications of what that man had just said. He knew what he meant and his heart broke even as he watched her cry.

She hadn't escaped unscathed from what life had thrown at her. She had not been able to escape everything.

She had been raped.

She had been raped by her fiance.

By someone she had trusted enough to marry.

The thought also brought him to his knees and he knelt there as she cried out her pain.

He knelt there as she cried out the betrayal and he simmered in his rage.
