"Gloria!" I belted out in song as I stepped into the apartment and dropped the bags in my hand to the floor.
"Why do you feel the need to sing an eighties, Laura Branigan song every time you walk through the door?" She asked as she picked up the bags at my feet and shoved them onto the kitchen counter.
"I'm not sure, I just feel like it's the theme tune to our friendship." I replied and she laughed mockingly. She appreciated it secretly. "I brought you strawberry yogurt and a whole lot of gossip. I need to tell you because Mason won't answer my calls, nor will he approve."
"Spill." She commanded as she started packing food into our fridge. I helped her unpack as I spoke.
"Well...." I dragged out the start of my sentence. "You know that whole thing where you made me go with Luke to a coffee place and then when when I came back, you'd completely ditched me and stayed at some random boyfriend of yours for like a month?"
"It was three or four days, but I appreciate your attempt to exaggerate. Carry on." Gloria replied, deadpan.
"Well I can only tell you this, Mason will go ape-shit crazy if he finds out." I dropped a banana and sighed. I was probably going to have to be the one who ate a mushy, bruised banana now. "Okay so, Luke was super nice, we got along really well and we've been texting back and forward for the past few days whilst you've been MIA." Gloria turned round, her face beaming and a sly smile played across her lips. "But..."
Gloria's face dropped. "But? But what?"
"You're going to be disappointed in me, G."
"What did you do?" She asked sternly. Sometimes she was like my mother; who I just remembered I haven't called back. I'll need to do that later.
"I may have accidentally, well I wouldn't phrase it as an accident. More a weak moment; a time of loneliness and want-"
"Just spit it out, Mila."
"Okay, Drew may have came round the other night to collect some of his things I apparently still had, and we may or may not have kissed, and we may or may not have had intercourse in the bedroom to the right." Gloria glanced in the direction of her bedroom and widened her eyes. "My right, Gloria." Her face relaxed a little. Until she realized what I'd actually said and threw whatever was in her hand at me. Thank you Gloria, I will now have an apple sized bruise on my upper arm.
"What the fuck?" She shouted at me, as I scrabbled to catch the apple that she had thrown and was now rolling around the floor. "Why the fuck would you do that? I thought you were done? I thought you were over?"
"It was kind of just- uhm, I don't know? Spur of the moment? Break up sex?" I suggested, shrugging, my shoulders. I didn't really have an explanation. He came in looking rather dishy, we kind of missed each other a little, and then stuff happened. I kind of felt bad about it after but it wasn't as if Luke and I were a thing.
"You little slut." Gloria laughed and I shook my head at her comment. "I can't believe you. After all that pining for him for months, you finally said you where over him."
"I am over him." I protested. "He was just wearing a really, really tight top. And you know he works out a lot?-"
"Mila." Gloria grabbed me by the shoulders and shook me harshly. "Stay strong for me babe. He's not worth it. Luke is the man for you now. Drew is old news."
"G, you're taking this to the extreme. Luke and I met about three days ago, and the only time we went out together, we went for coffee as friends."
"Technically, you and Luke have known each other since you where, like what? Thirteen, fourteen?" She shoved handfuls of food into the fridge and slammed the door shut, so that I would probably get the avalanche of everything falling out later. "You guys have history. -woah." She started to sing after she realized what she had said, and I stared at her in confusion. It wasn't exactly the time to add in One Direction song lyrics.
