*Blue's POV*
I need to stop lying to myself.
Telling myself that Mom isn't dead, that she's still in her room, locked up tight, and not at the funeral home down the streets that we're passing by in Mr. Davenport's car as Chase and Bree and Adam and Leo are trying not to stare at me as I stare down at my hands, just silently crying. And telling myself that nothing is going on between me and Chase, that the whole storage closet and little pep-talks and comforts and catching me once I fell off the lockers meant absolutely nothing to him. Or me.
Telling myself that I'm not in love with him, and that there's no possible way that he would ever love me because... Because boys can't fall in love with sad girls.
I'm only fooling myself, wait, no, I'm not even fooling myself. All these lies inside my head aren't the least bit convincing. So what if I'm in love with him? Sure, it's not a business relationship anymore, but we're just friends... Right? I mean, Bree's comforted me one out of the fifteen times Chase has.
I closed my eyes and leaned my head on Chase's shoulder, wiping off the excess tears and just laying there as Chase wrapped his arm around me until we pulled up at their mansion.
"What do you think, Blue?" Mr. Davenport asked me as we all climbed out of the car. I looked up at the house, tilting my head back and leaning on my heels so it looked like it was about to fall and crush me.
"Big D, it's not like she hasn't been here before." Leo said as he carried out some of my luggage (which was only five bags).
"Is she okay?" I heard Adam ask.
"Yes, Adam. She's perfectly fine. She's in poverty, she's in depression, we just killed her mother, and now we're forcing her to move in with us. Who wouldn't be fine in that situation?" Chase snapped.
"Well you didn't have to say it like that..."
"Okay, Chase, what is up with you? Ever since we... Executed Blue's mother you've been acting really uptight. Not that you're never uptight." Bree scolded.
I looked over my shoulder at the four who had just started a big argument and I just picked up one foot after the other until I came up to the door and waited as Mr. Davenport followed me up to unlock the door.
"You don't have to say anything, Blue. I just wanted you to know two things. One, we basically just saved you from going to an orphanage and probably never getting out. And two, you can stay in the guest bedroom upstairs to the right. It's pretty big for what you're used to, but I feel like you need some space right now. I'll tell Adam, Bree, Chase, and Leo to leave you alone for now."
He handed me two of my luggage bags and I lifted them up to my room with no trouble because of my eye powers. They must have been glowing again because there was a magenta tint all the way up the stairs, leading me to the guest bedroom.
