Chapter 38

LUCY'S POV

After Natsu dragged me outside into the school grounds where we ate our lunches then he led me to the gym, he practised his basketball and i was simply talking to him about random things.

"So is it normally only you in the gym?" I was leaning againest the wall while Natsu was practicing his 3 pointers and trust me when i say this, The basketball went in every time and it was not an exaggeration when people call him the best basketball player, at least thats what i think.

"Yeah Popsicle stick and Metal head never come at lunch unless they are feeling down and Jellal comes often so normally its either me by myself or me and Jellal. Only in the mornings or after school at the park or something that the whole group can all play together." He shot the basketball while talking to me in the basket and it went in. How the hell does someone not look and get a 3 pointer?

"Anyway it cant be only you four on the school basketball team right?"

"There are a lot of people on the basketball team but us four are the best. Just saying Sting is also on the basketball team so there may be some issues next practice."

"I have a feeling this involves what happened today." A sigh left my lips and Natsu noticed.

He grabbed the basketball and walked over to where i was standing. He leaned beside me.

"Luce its not your fault." He said in a gentle and soft tone.

"Yeah it is. If it werent for my clumisiness then you wouldnt have punched Sting in the face. Now your couch is probably going to kick you off the team." I started to weep quietly.

"Not unless i am the couch." Natsu smirked at my reaction. My eyes were wide as saucers and i was staring at him in disbelief.

"No way!"

"Yes way. I am the team captain and couch of Fairy Tails basketball team."He stated kissing away my tears and i started to blush at his actions.

"Natsu your just too awesome for this dimension" I giggled and kissed his lips lightly.

He let out a chuckle before kissing me deeply. I used my hands to cup his cheeks and he used his hand to pull my waist closer to him. I could hear his basketball drop on to the ground beside him with a few thumps.

When we parted he was grinning while i was panting for breath.

"Natsu you are full of surprises"

"Thats why you love me" He smirked.

"Idiot! I love everything about you not just the fact that you always surprise me with your talents." I smacked his arm lightly as i protested.

He let out a chuckle before kissing me gently on the forehead.

"Natsu you do know that right?" I asked him with sincerity.

"Now i do." Our foreheads were pressed together and you could hear our breathing.

"Natsu i swear you are such an idiot sometimes." I whispered.

"Well i'm your idiot." He kissed me again.

"Wha!?" Natsu sure has a way with words.

"I got to get back at practising so i can kill our game in the finals."

"Of course." I bent down to grab the basketball that was a few feet away from Natsu.

"Here you go." I passed Natsu the basketball but he made no intention to grab it.

"Thanks Luce." He didnt take the basketball from my hands, he flashed me a grin.

"Arent you going to practise?" I questioned.

"Yes i am but......" A smirk started to form on his face. It was as if an imaginary lightbulb appeared ontop of his head right then and there.

"What are you thinking?" This was getting creepy, Whenever Natsu smirks something wasnt right.

"Hey you know what Luce!?" He beamed with a huge smile. Like an actual smile not a grin or smirk.

This is downright weird.

"What are you suggesting?!" My voice was laced with curiousity.

"Today is your lucky day cause you are going to learn how to play basketball with the captain of Fairy Tail's basketball team." Natsu flashed me a grin.

"Is that even lucky?"

"Hey! I dont generally bite." He smirked and showed his canines at me. I just realised that he had very large and sharp canines that looked bigger then average teeth.

"You want me to put my life in your hands on a Generally!" I put my hands on my hips and tilted my head to glanse at Natsu.

"What makes you think your gonna die?" Natsu dribbled the ball in his left hand while he was talking to me.

"You are killer at basketball and you can also literally kill someone outside of basketball." I was refering to all the times Sting got punched and beat up by Natsu.

"I wouldnt kill anyone in basketball." He stated.

"I seriously doubt that. If i were to die i wouldnt want to die in your hands. Please spare me and let me live to see sunrise tomorrow." I put my hands together and started to pretend to pray to Natsu who was staring at me like i was pyscho.

"Geez! I admit i did get a few penaltys for hurting players in the past but i can promise you i would never hurt you and i wouldnt let anyone hurt you either. Your safe in my arms." His expression was stern.

"I know Natsu I know." I leaned my head on his chest while he used his hand to stroke my hair.

"Lets play basketball Luce!" He let go of me and i started to frown.

"Awww! I thought you forgot about that!"

"In your dreams princess!" Natsu yelled. He started to dribble the basketball and got into his defensive stance even though he probably knew that i would never be able to get the ball away from him.

And that was how our lunch was spent. Natsu and i were playing basketball without a care in the world and somehow i felt like he was a person who kept his promises.
