Alexander's Trick

Once they were quite deep into the woods and the night air was dark and cold, Alexander finally decided that they should start their slumber. He had stopped them by a cave that was rather small, but would keep them sheltered.

"Benjiman, start setting up camp. There should be blankets in the bag. Get us some food out of that bag too." Alexander commanded.

Benjiman just nodded, not wanting to upset his companion any more. Benjamin started to set up what Alexander wanted, and dug through the bag hurriedly so that Alexander would have nothing more to complain about.

"I'm going to the lake to wash off. I'll be back." Alexander said gruffly.

Benjamin nodded and pulled blankets out of the bag. He set down two on the cave floor, and put one on top so that they had a nice bed to lay on.

He reached back into the bag and found the food and water. First he pulled out the food bag to look inside. There were fruits and vegetables, with meat the had been dried into strips. Benjiman set out two stripes of meat each, along with an apple.

Satisfied that he had set up a good enough camp and meal for the night Benjamin turned around to see what Alexander was doing, but he wasn't anywhere to be seen.

Benjamin started to walk towards the lake where Alexander was supposed to be washing up and looked around the sight. The lake was beautiful and clear. The lake looked so cool, so inviting. Benjamin got closer and stuck the tip of his finger into the lake, and a shiver ran through him as he felt the cold temperature of the lake.

The thicket surrounding the lake was magical. Full of green leaves and the night sky changing colors all around it made Benjamin gasp, the entire area was so pretty. He was about to get back to searching for Alexander when he heard a low, intimidating growl come from behind him.

Turning around slowly, Benjamin screamed in terror when he was suddenly knocked down by a giant creature. He struggled to get away, but the creature locked its damp hand around his ankle, dragging him back towards it.

He was screaming, and tears were streaming down his face as he struggled. He kicked the creature in the face, and tried to run away, only to fall right into the lake. The water surrounded him, he was hardly tall enough to reach the bottom and keep his head above the water. Not able to get out of the lake, slipping all over the side, he sank into the water, prepared for death.

However instead of death, and the sound of his flesh being torn apart, all he heard was laughing.

Benjamin looked up to see Alexander standing over him, laughing hysterically. Benjamin tried to laugh, but he couldn't. Tears were still pouring out of his eyes, and he couldn't breathe properly.

Alexander pulled him out of the lake, whimpering and shaking.

"Hey, I was just messing around with you. Calm down there buddy." Alexander said.

Benjamin couldn't. He was shaking, and could feel a panic attack coming.

"STOP. CALM IT RIGHT NOW." Alexander suddenly yelled.

Benjamin looked at him, mumbled something softly, then fell unconscious on the grass.
