The first two moons they spent walking back were very uneventful.
Benjamin was trying to come up with any sort of item that could represent love, but all the items they tried just didn't seem to fit.
On the first day they mostly brainstormed what could work, but nothing came to mind.
The second day they refilled their water and food supplies, which can took longer than expected because the filter the Queen gave them for water was quite bothersome.
By the time all their water was replenished and they hunted enough food for the last days of their journey the day had already passed, and they only had a few hours left to search for the missing ingredient.
It may seem strange that in two moons the most superb Knights in the Kingdom (at least in the opinion of the Queen) could not solve a simple riddle, but that could have been explained rather simply.
All throughout those two moons Alexander had not been able to be as helpful as would have been needed. Instead his mind kept wandering to Benjamin.
Alexander knew Benjamin liked him, but he wasn't sure if he liked Benjamin as well.
At the beginning of their journey it seemed silly to even ponder the thought, but now it seemed very likely.
No maidens had ever suited what Alexander wanted in a bride, and he had never before thought of having a groom instead, but now the idea seemed like the most obvious approach to his wedding he hoped to have one day.
As Alexander thought about it more, he came to the conclusion that he indeed had developed feelings for Benjamin, but he had no idea how to act upon them.
He wasn't even sure that Benjamin truly liked him, it had just been a guess.
But with four moons left and still no obvious answer in sight, Alexander realized that he needed to bring his mind out of this haze and focus on the task he had been assigned to, still with no idea what to do about his feelings for Benjamin.
A/N: I'm going to try to update every Tuesday from now on. Cheers!
