There was a constant buzz that could be heard throughout the ride which she clearly saw him ignore. The matter of going out for a few days wasn't that big of a deal anyway, there were going to be several such instances in the future. She couldn't tell why his face looked so conspicuously ugly after she'd announced it.
As Sonali stepped out of the car, the dry air embraced her, a stark contrast to the cooling of the Bentley’s air-conditioning they had just shared. Sonali couldn't shake off the feeling of contentment and anxiety that enveloped her in Shaurya's presence, a combination of feelings she had never experienced before.
Her unexpected request for him to come back home earlier in the evening if he could take out the time because she wanted to go for a long drive in her new car still lingered around them as she got out herself and walked inside the office premises without turning back even once, not letting him see the face that was now devoid of any emotions just like his own.
Having seen so much wealth ever since she was born, this was probably the first time she'd known how good it felt to spend it on something she might have been longing to get after earning it herself.
The kids at school mostly belonged to rich families and so did the students at the University she'd studied from. Patriarchal hierarchy was a thing that stood tall in the middle of Damanpuri just like it did all over the country.
The rich stayed with the rich community, showing off their wealthy hobbies and passion for limited edition items, be it something as small as a fountain pen to a car with a flagship or even a cruise.
There was once a time she used to travel in her father's sedan, it never was as big of a deal. Back then, she was probably too naive to understand the world she'd been born as a part of until she was forced to.
A shadow of doubt was casted over every person’s face she'd met afterwards and right now, that shadow still lingered over the face of the man she'd already attached herself to for a long time.
What was the need of being friendly and flirting with him? It was just her testing the waters or maybe she just wanted to see how much of a trustable person he really was even at this point.
She wasn't really sure herself why she was being so bipolar either.
After a good twenty-five minutes of driving the Bentley stopped in front of the entrance of the Rawat Enterprises building. Shaurya walked in while Darshan went ahead to park the car. The phone in his pocket kept buzzing relentlessly up until he'd reached his cabin.
He glanced at the familiar name and contemplated for a while as he watched the screen lighting up again and the phone buzzed for another minute continuously. The notification of the missed call popped up over several others, grinning back at him with the familiar face of the contact and he swiped it away immediately.
