A marriage of convenience with individual interests and benefits. It was very obvious there were no feelings involved between the two who were getting married for their mutual power exchanges and tactical cooperation.

But from a third party's perspective it was just another arranged marriage.

No words were exchanged between them again on the way, it was an unsaid rule to keep the conversation they've had on the terrace was supposed to be kept confidential.

Once they reached downstairs and joined the other family members for lunch, the decision was announced on the table itself with an exchange of platinum bands between the two.

Shaurya wasn't surprised to find out the already prepared rings. Everything had been planned very thoughtfully and thoroughly with the combined efforts of the families as far as he could conclude by looking at smooth transitions of conversations and relationships within a span of minutes.

He would have been lying if he said he wasn't impressed by being forced so tactfully into doing something he didn't want to.

"Let's start preparing for the wedding ceremony once the date is fixed." Sharmila hugged Anjali delightfully. Her happiness was evident on her face clearly when she stood beside Sonali to give her a hug.

"Welcome to the family, Sonali."

"Thank you, aunty." Sonali smiled as she responded to the hug hesitantly.

How long had it been since she'd hugged someone on her own accord? She couldn't remember the last time she'd actually felt the warmth of a hug given to her.

Shaurya stood there with a perfunctory smile playing on his lips as he stayed there like a spectator watching his parents celebrating the moment.

His eyes traveled from one face to another, going back to Sonali who did not seem to be faking a smile for the first time.

Was she really happy with his arrangement? He couldn't tell no matter how much he brainstormed over it.

There were so many questions he wanted answers to. Why weren't any of her own family members present here today? How could such a big decision be taken in their absence?

But again, nobody voiced the same concerns as if they already knew what was going on and he was the only one walking in a dark room with no way in or out.

Everyone present in that room was wearing a perfectly polished facade for their own interests.

Astonishingly what made him feel slightly uncomfortable was the teasing smiles Aadya had been passing to him while standing beside Sonali.

Why was the girl acting like he was actually feeling shy with the teases being sent his way? He was clearly just uncomfortable, wasn't it obvious?

If anything, he could only mentally try to take notes of who was aware of what Sonali was scheming, how cunning were the people standing on the other side and why Sonali seemed like a completely different person from what she was on the terrace barely an hour ago.
