The Fight

Lindsey sat in a chair by my hospital bed, playing a game on her phone. Her dad had gone to talk to her mom in the hallway. I leaned back and smiled.

"Lindsey?" I asked.

"Yeah?" She didn't take her eyes off her phone. 

"Could you please get out of my room?" I sat up and crossed my arms across my beaten chest. She looked up from her phone and looked at me, an angry expression on her face. 

"Why are you so MEAN!?" She screamed and threw her phone on the ground. I heard a crack noise and knew she had cracked her phone. She didn't seem to care though.

"First you attack my mom, now me!" She walks over to the side of the bed. She shakes her head. 

"You think that was getting attacked! Honey, you don't know the meaning of being attacked!" I threw off the covers and exposed my bruised and beaten body. "This is being attacked!" I covered myself back up with the blanket. It hurt so bad to scream and move. I winced in pain and started to cry. 

"Just because something bad happened to you doesn't mean you should be mean to everyone else..." Lindsey said quietly. 

"Oh like you were nice to me before this. You just feel bad for me. That's the only reason you're being nice!" I screamed and again winced in pain. Lindsey shook her head again and started walking towards the door. I thought she was going to leave, but she stopped and picked up her moms purse off the ground. She walked back towards me and raised the purse above her head. I put my hand up and began to cry harder. 

She was going to hit me with the purse. Just then Lindsey's mom and dad came back into the room and gasped when they saw what was happening. 

"Lindsey!" They screamed and ran to her. They grabbed the purse from her hands and pulled her into the hallway. 

I knew I wouldn't be adopted by them.
