Part One: Out In The Open
The very next morning, I wake up to a very angry PulseTeam in my bedroom. As I sit up slowly in my bed, I say, "To what do I owe the pleasure of having you guys all in here at the same time, and with such umm, pleasant expressions on your faces?"
"Perhaps you'd care to explain yourself, Pulse," says Alitia harshly.
"Explain... what, exactly?" I ask.
"Why you would make contingency plans against your own team! Against your own FRIENDS!!!" replies John.
"Oh, so you found those, huh?" I say as calmly as possible. "I figured it was a matter of time before either you guys found them, or before I told you that I made them."
"Don't try to smooth this over," says Alitia. "We are not finished with you just yet. Why were you keeping contingency plans against us? Was it a matter of mistrust? Because if you don't trust us, all you had to do was just say so."
I reply, "It is not a matter of mistrust, but more like a matter of public safety, and me not trusting the team to fix itself should it ever get out of control, or it turns to the dark side. That's all. I don't even trust myself unless I know that there is some way to stop me if I turn rogue. Isn't that at least understandably reasonable?"
Kaitlyn says, "We understand, and we think that the terms and conditions are very reasonable. We don't know why the rest of you don't." And Gabriel nods his head in agreement.
"He's made plans against his entire team!!" yells Ky at Gabriel.
"Precautions to stop us!" Gabriel yells right back. "He's taken precautions against us, and he said, 'In the unlikely event that any of us should ever turn rogue'. Any fool could figure out that means, 'If we ever lose control', or 'if we fall under some kind of mind control.' You've got a 210 Intelligence Quotient, Ky... why can't you figure that out?"
He put everyone on hush-mode, and I just decide to try and go back to sleep, because I am still a little bit groggy. The very minute I close my eyes, I hear Alitia's voice saying, "Oh, no you don't! I said we're not through with you yet!"
At that moment, she yanks my cover off of me, and blows a bullhorn in my right ear. That does it. I jump to my feet on top of my bed, and I shout at the top of my lungs, "YOU ARE NOW! NOW, OUT! OUT! EVERYBODY OUT!!! GET OUT, OR SO HELP ME, I'LL KICK YOU ALL OUT!!!!" and I point to the door. As they all run out, I slam the door with such force that I shatter it. Then I shout, still angry, "I'LL FIX THAT!!!"
I just lost my cool (No pun intended, again). As I simmer down, and go back to sleep, I wake up this evening and bring a whole bunch of food to my room. I'm starving, because I haven't eaten anything ALL DAY, and the minute I sit down, I consume everything in seconds. Then I call an emergency meeting, and when it starts, I begin by asking, "Alright, John, what were you doing in my mainframe in the first place?"
"I was-- I-- I was-- ummm..."
"Right," I cut him short. "Now, since four of you don't understand why I made those contingency plans against us, allow me to fully explain it to you. Number one: We are the most powerful, living killing force in the world, and probably this galaxy. If we wanted to, we could probably start Armageddon, right now. We are literally so powerful, that without even breaking a sweat, it would only take half of us to completely wipe out the entire terrestrial population. Now I'm not saying this to make you guys cocky, because we, being as powerful as we are need to be put in check, and I'm not exempt. If anything at all, this weighs more heavily on me than it does on the rest of you combined. Even you, Tia.
