"It's nice to see you here." I looked at him and forced a smile. "You too." I said through gritted teeth, not really meaning every single word.
"I thought you'd never never show up." At first, I thought he actually smiled at me but when I saw someone walk behind me, I decided to think otherwise.
"I was starting to think that Topshop didn't invite you, but there's no need to think about that since you're here now, right?"
I breathed heavily before turning sidewards to face him. "I won't be surprised if Topshop didn't invite me, really." A small smile started to form on his lips, but I wasn't done, yet.
"It just means that they think you and your big head would cover up the attendees." I looked back in front and internally smiled when I saw him glare at me through my peripheral vision.
. . .
"Brooke, uh, hey." I stopped walking and turned around. There, I saw Zach, one of my classmates in a subject I don't know particularly.
"Zach, what's up?" I smiled, adjusting my backpack. Last period just ended, and I was already on my way home.
"About our Math project." I rose an eyebrow, not really having an idea on what he was talking about.
"Project? What project?" He laughed a little, revealing those perfect set of teeth. "Ms. Sanders gave us the task yesterday, but you were absent."
He put his hands in his pockets as I looked at him, not knowing anything on what he was talking about. "Oh, okay. What about it?"
"We're partners..." He trailed, looking at me and I just stared right back at him. "Okay. What's the project about?"
"Uh, as much as I want to explain everything right now, I can't. I have to go, but can I have your number? So, I can contact you and all that." He scratched the back of his neck, making me smile. He's so cute.
"Yeah, of course." He looked at me in disbelief. Did he really think that I wouldn't give my number to him? "Really?"
He faked a cough, saying, "Oh, I mean, here's my phone." I quickly typed my number and once I was done, I gave it back.
"So, I'll see you soon?" I asked while slowly starting to walk away. He nodded, turning around.
. . .
"I think I won't be attending school on Friday." I told Kaye through the phone. "What? And why is that?"
"I need to attend a meeting for a film that I'm part of." I put her on loud speaker and set my phone on top of my bed.
I grabbed my laptop, opening all my social medias. "You've already had several absences. You might get kicked out if you decide to have more."
"You say it like it's a bad thing. I just had 4 absences, and that's not a lot." I opened twitter and logged in as Brooke.
"Well, I'm just looking out for you. It's our Senior year, and might as well set your eye on the goal, and that is to graduate." She sounds like she's my mom, and I'm not even complaining.
"By the way, who's your partner for our Math project?" Kaye let out a "Huh?" leaving me confused.
"The project that Ms. Sanders gave yesterday." She seemed to have no idea on what I was talking about.
"She didn't give any project yesterday. In fact, she didn't even attend the class because apparently, she was at home, sick."
"But, why did Zach tell me we were partners?" I closed my laptop, grabbing my phone while scooting to the edge of the bed, laying my feet flat on the floor.
