Chapter Twenty Three

Just when Zero had calmed down,everyone was in shock when he opened his eyes and they were pure black.Violet suddenly backs away before turning to Hunter and Jessica.

Violet:Quick! Brace yourselves!
Jessica:W-what..?

Without warning,a powerful surge of energy burst from Zero's body and travels all over the room.Violet was unaffected by this and simply stood still but Jessica wasn't prepared.The force throws her a couple of feet backwards but just before she could hit the wall,Hunter manage to get behind her and cushion the impact for her.After everything that had happened,Zero slowly close his eyes and falls unconscious once more.Jessica looks at her brother with a worried expression.

Jessica:H-hunter...are you alright?
Hunter:I'm fine.You?
Jessica:I'm...I'm alright.Thank you...
Hunter:Don't mention it.It's a brother's job to protect his little sister,right?(smiles)
Jessica:Yeah...(blushes)

Violet cautiously returns to Zero's bed.Hunter and Jessica joins her once more.

Jessica:What...what just happened?
Violet:Looks like his body has accepted the demon part of him.I think he'll be alright now.
Hunter:You think?(looks at violet)
Violet:We still don't know how this will affect him.Keep an eye on him for now and report to me when something happens.
Hunter:Report to you?
Violet:That's right.As of right now,I'll be handling Zero's case.I'll talk about it to the other higher ups.
Hunter:I have no problem with that but why the sudden interest with Zero?
Violet:Agent Zero is not human anymore.Plus,I checked his background and found out that he was actually "born" when you guys sealed Alastor in him.I just find his case...fascinating.
Hunter:I see.

Violet goes to the door as it slides open.Before she leaves,she looks at the siblings one more time.

Violet:You probably know this but I'll remind you again.Until we know how this demonic side will affect Zero,do not tell him about any of this.It's hard since you're friends but please bear with it.
Jessica:Understood.
Violet:Good.Well,see you later.Ciao~(winks)

And with that,Violet leaves the room.Hunter can see that Jessica had a worried look on her face and was confuse by the whole situation.He pats her on the head to ease her a little.

Hunter:Like Violet said.Bear with it for the time being.It's for Zero's safety after all.
Jessica:I...know...(murmurs)
Hunter:As long as you don't let your emotions get the better of you then that's fine.
Jessica:Y-yeah...(nods)

The two starts to clean the mess of the room from what happened earlier.Hunter was turns a table that had been knocked over while Jessica was gathering some files that littered the floor.While they were cleaning,Hunter starts a conversation.

Hunter:I've been keeping quiet about this but it's obvious you know.
Jessica:What are you talking about?
Hunter:You having a crush on Zero,I mean.

Hearing that startles Jessica as she drops the files she was holding on the floor.Her face turns red with embarrassment.

Jessica:W-w-what the hell are you talking about..?(looks at hunter)
Hunter:We've been together since the day you became an Agent.I know how your mind works,more or less.
Jessica:Y-you're just...talking nonsense.Jeez.
Hunter:You have been acting weird since Zero came back.And you're too worried about him.I can see it in your eyes Jess.

Jessica was too embarrass to reply as her face continues to turn red.Hunter couldn't resist but laugh a little at the face his sister was making.

Hunter:You know,there's quite an age gap between you two.I mean,you're already 24 and he's still a kid.Well,a teenager but you get what I mean.
Jessica:Of course I know that.He sees me as a friend and kinda like an older sister.But it's not my fault that I...I...I....
Hunter:"Started having feelings for him?" Is that what you were going to say?
