Chapter Twenty Five

A beam of light coming from the just risen sun hits the face of the still sleeping Anya who was on a Lucy's bed.The bright glare from the sun awakens Anya from her slumber.When she looks to her side,Lucy wasn't there.She quickly sits up in panic but before she could get off from the bed,the door to the room opens.She gives a sigh of relief when she sees that it was Lucy.

Lucy:What's wrong Anya?
Anya:Oh,n-nothing.I was just surprised that you weren't in bed.
Lucy:I went to get something to eat.
Anya:I would have gone with you if you told me that you were going out.
Lucy:You were sleeping so peacefully.I didn't want to wake you up.You worry too much.(smiles)

Anya stretch her arms and gives a yawn.Unexpectedly,her stomach rumbles in hunger,much to her embarrassment as she turns red a little.

Lucy:Since you're up,why not go get something to eat?
Anya:I don't mind but you'll be all alone once I leave.
Lucy:Don't worry.My parents are coming over.
Anya:They are? That's good news then.
Lucy:However,they won't be staying long and will be leaving again.But that's better than not having them come at all.
Anya:I see.Then I'll take my time.See you later.
Lucy:You've been spending a lot of time with me.I'm really happy about that but your boyfriend might feel lonely.
Anya:Huh? Boyfriend?
Lucy:There's a guy waiting outside.He said that you were his partner.Is partner another word for girlfriend?

Anya blushes bright red from what the little girl said.

Anya:G-g-g-girlfriend? I-I'm not h-his girlfriend!(blushes)
Lucy:You're not?
Anya:Like he said.We're just partners.I mean,friends! Yeah,we're friends! H-he's keeping me company while I'm here!

A mischievous grin appears on Lucy's face.

Lucy:Oh,I see.Your "friend" huh? You go run off and be with your "friend".Don't worry about me.
Anya:I-I told you that we're not like that!(blushes)
Lucy:What? I'm not saying anything.I'm just telling you to be with your.."friend".
Anya:Jeez.I give up.Sigh.
Lucy:Have fun.(giggles)

Lucy waves goodbye as Anya leaves the room.Outside,Zero was casually waiting for her.He notice that her face was a little red.

Zero:What's with your face? You have a fever or something?

Because of what Lucy said,Anya was now conscious in front of Zero.She looks away and tries not to make eye contact.

Anya:S-shut up.Let's go already.I'm..starving.

Zero was confuse by Anya's behavior but doesn't say anything.A little later,they were eating in a cafeteria somewhere in the hospital.Anya was eating a sandwich while Zero was busy looking through his cellphone.Anya tries to forget being embarrass by talking about their mission.

Anya:Have you found anything?
Zero:No.But there is some good news.
Anya:What's that?
Zero:Last night,HQ sent an Agent to deliver something that might help us catch the witch.

Zero takes out two small devices from his pocket.The device had a monitor and one button on it.Anya stares at it in curiosity.

Anya:What's that?
Zero:The guys down at the labs made this to make our mission a little easier.It's suppose to detect the presence of someone who has strong magical powers.But it's still a prototype and might overload or something like that.
Anya:That's quite handy.
Zero:All we need to do is press the button and it will scan the area around you.Since it's only a prototype,the range capability of the scan is only limited to about the size of this cafeteria.
Anya:Why don't we try it now?
Zero:Worth a shot.

Zero press the button on one of the devices.The small monitor on it glows green before fading seconds later.

Anya:What does that mean?
Zero:It means that the witch isn't here.If she was,the screen would have turned red.
Anya:That was so cool.
Zero:I'm giving this one to you.It'll make our search for the witch much more quicker.
Anya:Alright.
