Zero Chronicles

Chapter Three

Anya,Zero and Hunter were in a coffee cafe.The two were seated together while Hunter was seated on the opposite side of the table.Anya was still acting nervous in front of Hunter and was clinging close to Zero.Hunter takes his cup of coffee and drinks it.Zero was patiently waiting for him to talk.

Hunter:Man,thats one good coffee.
Zero:Just tell me what you want already.
Hunter.My,my.Aren't we in a hurry.
Zero:You know that Anya is uncomfortable around you.

Hunter looks at Anya but she doesn't make eye contact.She turns away and looks out the window instead.Zero can feel her trembling a bit.

Hunter:Is that so? I guess she's still hasn't gotten over about "that" incident.
Zero:I prefer you not to mention that.It really pisses me off.
Hunter:Whoa,calm down tiger.Alright,I'll keep quiet about that.
Zero:Now talk.What do you want?
Hunter:I'll get to the point.The higher ups wanted me to tell you that we've located..."him".

Zero raise an eyebrow after hearing that.This certainly had his attention.

Zero:Are you sure? You're positive?
Hunter:They said that it was a 99% match.
Zero:Where is he then?
Hunter:New York.
Zero:Tsk.Thats really far away.Any other information about him?
Hunter:Not much.All we know that he's been in the city for a month now but its only been recently that his location was found.This guy is smart.He knows how to cover his tracks.
Zero:I see.

Anya looks at Zero.She was shock to see that he had a grin on his face.But not just a grin,it was a grin of pure evil.She hasn't seen made that face ever.

Zero:I have to leave for New York as soon as possible.
Hunter:Hey,knock yourself out.

Zero takes out his wallet and checks his money.He gives a sigh before putting it back.

Anya:Whats wrong?
Zero:There's not much left.The tickets alone will consume almost all of it.
Hunter:Thats a shame.
Zero:Can't the Organization find a way to get me there?
Hunter:No can do.You know the rules.If its something personal,we can't help.You're on your own I'm afraid.
Zero:Great.(sarcastic)
Anya:Hey Zero.Maybe we can skip this one.
Zero:NO! We have to get there now!

He slams his right hand on the table with great force.This startles Anya so much that she moves a feet away from him.Realizing what he did,Zero comes to his senses.He sees that Anya was trembling even more.He was ashamed for what he did and couldn't look straight at her.

Zero:I'm...sorry.I shouldn't have done that.

She manage to calm down and nods a reply.Soon after,Zero and Anya were walking through a crowded street.Even though it was packed,Zero notice that Anya was keeping her distance from him.Because of that,she keeps on bumping into people.It was obvious to him that Anya was still affected about what happened.He thinks for a moment before suddenly grabbing hold of her hand.She blushes in surprise.

Anya:Z-zero...?
Zero:Come with me for a bit.
Anya:Huh? What for?

Zero leads Anya to a small park.He lets her sit on one of the benches.He sits down next to her.She was still blushing and was confuse about the sudden situation.There was an awkward silence before Anya finally speaks.

Anya:Zero,why did you bring me--?

To her surprise,Zero gives her a gentle hug.She was blushing hard and didn't know what to do.

Anya:Z-z-z-zero? Whats gotten into y-you...?(blushes)
Zero:I'm sorry.(murmurs)
Anya:Huh?

Zero slowly pulls himself away from her.Anya manage to calm down and understand the situation.

Anya:Are you talking about earlier?
Zero:Yes.I...I shouldn't have done that.It was wrong of me to suddenly yell at you.
Anya:No.Its fine.I understand how important this is to you.
Zero:But still...I feel disgusted with myself.You didn't do anything wrong and yet I did that.I'm a failure as your companion.
