Chapter fourteen

Jimmy’s POV

Jason came into my room. “You’ve been in here like, four times tonight.” I lit up a cigarette and Jason sat on the bed beside me.

“I worry that you’ll do something stupid.” Jason said looking at me with true concern; he wasn’t lying about being worried. I shrugged and put my head in my hands.

“Leave me alone.” I grumbled, feeling like crying again.

Jason patted my shoulder and then he left me. I was glad he’d gone. I did not want his pity, I wanted to cry and sleep. I wanted to forget everything but it wasn’t going to be that easy. I found myself opening up the bottom drawer of my dresser, I didn’t quite know how I got there but I raked through it regardless. I pulled out all the photos I had and sat down on the floor.

I looked at the captured moments of me and Adrianna. Some we were laughing, some kissing and in some it looked like we were fighting each other. I sighed and picked up my favourite photo. It was the first photo that we’d taken together. In the photo Adrianna was laughing with a cigarette in her hand and my lips were on her face. We looked so happy. It was long before the breakdown of our relationship, long before the physical fights and screaming matches. We had been a very sweet, happy couple.

Two and a half years ago

“Jimmy!” Adrianna said with a giggle, I held onto her waist and pulled her toward me, kissing her on the lips. My hands ran through, her wild, unruly curls. She kissed me back and put her hands on either side of my face.  “You are everything I have ever wanted do you know that?” I smiled and kissed her again. I’d never been happier, who cared about the vast age difference? I mean really?

“Hey, I have a camera with me let’s take a photo.” I reached into my jean pocket but my camera wasn’t there. “Shit…” I mumbled wondering where it had gone.

“Oh, I think it’s in your coat!” Adrianna exclaimed as she lit a cigarette.

            I looked at her confused. “I didn’t bring a coat…did I?”

“Look in my bag.” She said putting her cigarette to her lips.

I opened up her bag and found a large brown trench coat wrapped up inside of it. I pulled it out and put it on, perfect fit. “What’s this for?” I asked with a large grin.

“You’re my boyfriend! I’m allowed to buy you gifts!” Adrianna said with smoke bellowing out of her mouth and a smile on her lips.

I noticed a box of black hair dye in her bag and moaned.

            “What’s wrong?”

“Don’t dye your hair black, I love the fact you have ginger hair. It’s cute.”

She blushed, then looked down at her shoes embarrassed. “Just take this fucking photo come on...”

Present Day

I was wearing that coat now. It was a little tatty now but I still wore it; every day in fact.

She didn’t dye her hair black until a couple of months later, when she broke up with me for fucking her sister. She only dyed because she knew I’d hate it. Still I smiled, I missed how we were. I missed being the good guy but becoming the leader of a gang was something that went to my head and made me cruel.
