Scene One

The exterior apartment building has been around for awhile with the bricks washed away over the years, it was evident it's been standing for quite some time but has withstood all this time and does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Despite the outside being old and warn out the inside is fairly new with some new finishes around the interior and plumbing up to code. There were about twenty rooms home to different kinds of people.

A two bedroom one bath spacious apartment on the sidelines of Manhattan looking out into the city, not the best view but still something. There was a large TV set up on the wall with a tattered leather couch facing it and a coffee table in the middle of the two. The walls were bare with some lamps in the corners of the room since the ceiling lights did not work. Two day old dishes sat in the sink and the fridge never seemed to have enough food in it.

It was a particularly warm September so much that the windows were open mid way to let some cool hair into the apartment as an attempt to get rid of the humid dry air. Two boys, one a tall blond and the other a tan brunette, live in the space. The blond, Luke , is in his room getting ready for a date. Calum, the tan one, is sitting on the couch aimlessly watching something on the TV.

The chill coming from the window made both boys shiver but neither bothered to shut the window.

Luke [yelling]: Calum! I need help!

Calum: What is it now?

[Luke steps out of his room, a tall sweet nineteen year old with just a high school diploma and a steady job at their local coffee shop.]

Luke [questioning]: How does this shirt look? Is it okay, like do you think it's appropriate enough for where we're going? God I am so nervous it's driving me insane.

Calum: You and me both. You look fine Luke, your shirt is perfect and he's going to think you're perfect now stop freaking out and calm down. [He turns back to look at the TV while Luke joins him on the couch.]

Luke [exhaling]: You're right, as usual. It's just I haven't been on a date in so long it has me going insane, I feel like a child waiting for their punishment.

Calum [laughing]: I can assure you you are going to be okay Luke now get out and go so you're not late.

[After letting out one last breath Luke got up from the couch and threw on his jacket and grabbed his keys and wallet and walked out of his apartment. The restaurant he was meeting his date was close enough to walk plus it was such a nice day out he didn't mind the short walk. After arriving at the restaurant he walked in and was greeted by a smiling waiter.]

Waiter [cheery]: Hello, how many?

Luke: Oh, um two but I'm not sure if he's here already, his name is Ashton.

Waiter: Let me just take a look. [He says as he goes behind the counter to look at some papers.] Okay so there is an Ashton here already, I'll take you to him.

[Luke follows behind as he's guided to his date. After arriving at the table he tells the waiter thank you and he disappears and it's just Luke and Ashton.]

Luke [smiling]: Hey [He takes a seat.]

Ashton: Hi, I can't tell you how happy it makes me that you agreed to go on a date with me.
