Bill's POV

Pine Tree did pout for a while about his parents forcing him to move tables, but he honestly got over it quickly. The waitress delivered him his Filet Mignon (which I recently learned is a type of steak thanks to my dictionary: Pine Tree). He cut it in half and put it on the spare plate, sliding it over for me to eat.

I stared at him unhappily. "It does not look very appetizing, Pine Tree."

Pine Tree gawked at me. "Are you kidding me? This looks delicious!"

I chuckled. "I hate to disagree..." I muttered, picking at it with my fork. "So, Pine Tree, when did you first try alcohol. And don't lie. I know you have."

Pine Tree shrugged. "Bill, I really haven't."

I frowned deeply. "You're joking...right?"

He shook his head. "Nope."

"Wow," I leaned back and a small amused smile spread on my face. "You want to try some?"

Pine Tree exhaled annoyed. "No. I'd be breaking the law."

"Who cares about the law." I reached under the table so I could secretly bring up a bottle of wine like the one Ford had drank. I set it up and, with some simple disguised magic, I made the glasses appear.

"Bill," Pine Tree hissed under his breath.

"Pine Tree," I hissed back playfully.

He rolled his eyes. "I can't drink it."

I filled up his glass with the dark red liquid. "Sure you can..." I handed him the full glass, holding it out with a smirk.

"I don't-"

"Come on, wuss."

Pine Tree finally sighed, giving in, and accepted the wine and held it like it was a small animal.

"Drink it, kid." I laughed.

Pine Tree looked up at and nodded. He raised it to his lips and I couldn't help but watch intently as he took a couple sips and swallowed it. He reopened his eyes and looked down at the alcoholic beverage.

"So? Whatcha think?" I asked him eagerly.

"It's somewhat bitter...but good."

I pumped my fists in the air triumphantly. "Whoo hoo!"

Pine Tree smiled sheepishly and ducked his head away. "Ok, now you try the Filet."

I glanced down at the steak and grimaced. "Ok, sure." I grabbed my fork and stabbed it.

"No, Bill, cut it." He instructed me and giggled like he was four.

"Oh," I took the knife and did it like he had shown me and disconnected a piece of the meat. I lifted it up and smiled dorkily and took a bite of it. At first it tasted bland, but then I got hold of the flavor. My eye widened and Pine Tree laughed.

"Taste good?"

I nodded exuberantly. "Dang, I under estimated human food big time."

Pine Tree grinned happily. "See, told yah."

We both and laughed and talked for a while, eating Filet Mignon and sipping on wine. I did, though, out of the courtesy of my heart, make sure he didn't drink enough to even get a little tipsy. I knew he'd never forgive me if that happened. Once we finished dinner we saw the restaurant bring out a piece of cake and set it on the table in front of Vanessa.

Pine Tree and I looked from our table to theirs and watched them sing happy birthday while we...didn't.

Pine Tree didn't seem to happy about being left out of that moment, and when they all took a photo together, Pine Tree hid his face in his hands. He was crying.

"Dipper...?" I asked quietly so he'd look up. But he didn't.

"I-I just... It-it's like..." He looked up and his eyes were pink from tears and I flinched back. Seeing him crying went straight through me like a razor. "It's like they hate me now." More tears fell involuntarily down his face. He couldn't stop them. He had been holding all of this emotion inside of him for a while.

"Pine Tree, shush..." I tried to quiet him, but he couldn't. I rose from my chair and grabbed his hand, making him stand up and I pulled him into a soft hug. "Hey, let's go outside..." I whispered.

He nodded, quite pathetically, and I knew he hated being pathetic.

I led him to the front door and then we were outside. The sun was setting, most of the rainbow colors had vanished, the sky purple and blue with the small dying rays of the sun. I set him down on the sidewalk so he could sit criss-cross and I put my hands on his shoulders. "Look, Pine Tree. Your parents just don't appreciate what they have. They aren't people of change. Don't get totally wrecked up over this."

Pine Tree desperately wiped his tears away, but more followed. "God... I-I know...I just c-can't take it anymore."

I ran my thumb on his face, wiping another tear away and he looked up at me, confused now, because I was holding his face with both hands so gently. "You're not as weak as you look, kid. Don't let that get to your head."

Pine Tree tried to smile, but pain still was shining in his brown eyes. There was another image in his eyes that I couldn't quite depict. "Bill, why are you so nice?"

"I don't know..." I breathed, annoyed. "Being human can do that to you."

Pine Tree lowered his eye lids and brought his hands to his face, feeling my hands. "You're not as cruel as you were when I first met you...on a mission to kill me..." He closed his eyes.

I was sitting on my knees and I felt my heart ache. Poor Pine Tree... "Don't worry, it'll all be fine."

He nodded slightly, allowing himself to relax and breath softly.

The door suddenly opened up and Ford, Keith, Vanessa and Shooting Star all walked out, talking and laughing together.

I got Pine Tree to his feet and took him to the back of the restaurant, behind it, so they didn't see us and they didn't see him. The sun had gone down entirely now and the stars were shining in the sky, the only light besides the crescent moon.

"Bill...what am I going to do?" He whispered, his voice shaking.

"Don't think about it. I'll help you..." My voice was so soft that it scared me, because I never talked to anyone that way before.

Pine Tree was shaking slightly and closed his eyes for a sort while. "Thank you."

I found myself staring at him and I couldn't drag my gaze away. It was like it was only fixated upon him.

Pine Tree reopened his eyes and when he saw me staring his breath hitched. "Bill...why are you..." He trailed off, the words not forming in his mouth.

That's when I saw the image in his eyes. I could see the stars, all of the galaxy, shining within them and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. "Pine Tree...I...I can't..." I didn't finish, because I cupped my hands on his face and kissed him. He didn't tense up, he didn't scream, he only stood there momentarily shocked before, he too, closed his eyes. Pine Tree wrapped his arms around my neck and I breathed him in, almost like my heart couldn't stop beating because it was beating for him. Instead of his mouth moving on mine, or mine moving on his, our mouths moved together, against each other.

I finally drew away and I felt like crying. I looked down at him and I shattered.

"Bill, you..." Pine Tree's voice broke and he swallowed, his entire body trembling. So many versions of confusion and shock were racing across his face.

And I wanted to do it again.

It reminded me of that first time I kissed Arrow.

Arrow...

My heart stopped. Oh no... My heart then seemed to split as I realized what I had just done. I drew my hands away from his warm, handsome face and ran away.

What did I just do?

*cries in confusion*
