"Dean Winchester." Dean looked up, his eyes meeting the red and swollen eyes of Lucifer Novak. Anger hit him in his gut hard and he stood slowly, glaring at him.
"What." He growled through his teeth. Lucifer sniffled, but not sadly. He looked strung out and high as hell.
"Stay away from Castiel." Dean rolled his eyes and muttered yea right under his breath.
"I said-"
"I heard what you said. And No." He said, not turning around, signaling that this conversation was over. No one was around them, and he knew that if this broke out in a fight nobody would be able to pull them apart and he would more likely kill him.
"No?" His voice wavered angrily.
"No." Dean heard the click, but didn't fully register what it meant until the smack of the gun firing sounded and then a searing pain and heat flashed across his face, then all went black.

Cas heard the sound before. A loud pop, three times. He winced, flying down to the ground and covering his head. His eyes flew around the room searching for his friends. Jess, Ash, even Benny were there..... but where was Dean? He scanned the kids with shocked and horrified faces again, but didn't see those eyes.
"Benny? Where's Dean?" He shrugged, but looked just as worried as Cas felt. He stood, ignoring the screaming and hollaring and fighting the crowd now trying to run away, fighting the flow of people going the opposite direction. He prayed for the first time in years, begging God for it not to be him. For him to be okay.
He reached the doorway, and saw guards wrestling with Lucifer, his eyes wild and bloodshot. His heart fell down to his toes as he saw people rushing out, blood on their clothes.
He ran, his feet pumping against the tile. His arms held on to the edge of the doorway as he swung into the room, pleading for God to let just this once.
The instant he took in the scene of Dean's brain on the walls, his body crumbled against the bed and his face gone he whimpered, falling to his knees. He heard someone say his name, but it was the wrong voice, not as deep. He would never hear that voice again. He screamed, his mouth opened wide and spit falling down his chin as he cursed God. Cursed himself. Cursed Dean. He screamed, the sound making a lot of the people stop, their hearts tearing in two at the sound of the ultimate anguish. It was completely still as everyone watched the young man fall apart, each piece of himself falling to the ground. He crawled to the body, touching the blood soaked Jean clad leg. His fingers dug into the jeans, his hands shaking so hard it looked like he was shaking him awake. One of the guards, a full grown man that was in the navy for years, stifled a sob at the scene.
"Cas." Benny grabbed him around the middle, pinning his arms to his side as he tried to lift him, letting the tears flow freely. He screamed again, this time something intellegable.
"NO!" He screamed this as he fought against Benny, hitting and thrashing and kicking.
"NO! DEAN! DEAN!" Benny dragged him out of the room, and as one of the nurses finally arrived and rushed in all she could hear was the name of the dead boy being screamed from seemingly everywhere.
"DEAN!"
