Dean Winchester loved looking at Cas.
He loved watching his slender hand sketch across the page, watch how the neat blocky letters wove into delicately thought out sentences that were magical paragraphs when read together. He loved watching his tongue poke out slightly as he thought ,reminding him of a cat as his long fingers rolled the pen over his knuckles. He loved the way his hair fell into his large blue eyes that seemed to hold the entire sky and whole galaxies in them.
He just loved studying him, noting the way his lips puckered when he saw something he didnt like, or how his eyes and nose crinkled when he smiled. He liked watching his back muscles ripple slightly as he wrote, and he liked to trace the tattoos in his mind, wanting to reach out and trace them lightly with his finger tips.
Ever since he and him became more than friends and less than intimate, Cas spent more and more time with him, opening up quite a bit. This past week Dean learned so much more about this angelic man than he ever would have thought possible, and he couldn't help but share stories about himself as well.
Cas was the first person to ever know Dean wanted to go to college. Cas was also the first person to see his drawings that he kept in a sketch pad underneath his pillow, a sort of diary for him. Castiel smirked at some, frowned at others and even asked him if he could keep one for future tattoo ideas.
Dean would never admit it to anyone, but sharing all these things with Cas made him feel better. The itch he seemed to always have was slowly fading, the need to have someone touching him, telling him how he was doing good was gone. He felt like... himself. Like he didn't need approval from anyone or anything ever Again.
Cas made him whole again.
