"Quit staring" he smirks at me. I'm honestly astonished, San Francisco is on the other side of the USA! This is crazy. It was torture trying to pass one state to get here and now we have to fly across the country? He better have a good plan, because last time I checked, you don't make that kind of decision in 5 minutes. Well maybe you do, when a psycho, fake mother wants to kidnap you. Kidnap you again.
It hurts, a lot, but living with lies is worse than battling with the truth.
"Are you kidding me?" I continue gaping at him.
" Do I like look like I am?" he raises an eyebrow.
"No...I wish you were though. We're flying across America? Why not somewhere closer?"
" Is there a problem with that town?"
" No...It's just a bit far."
"Great, lets get going."
"Now?"
He rolls his eyes and walks out the room. Oh yay, moody Alex is back. Normally I wouldn't care if somebody was a bit cranky, but I do now, because it's my fault. I ask too many stupid questions, instead I should keep my mouth shut and trust him. Alex on the other hand, has to understand I have trust issues now, since he worked for my mother who wanted to sell my sister and I.
I'm really thinking why I haven't broken down yet. I used to cry over little things. I cried over losing my phone, not having anything to wear, being late or getting a bad grade. I guess when you're forced to leave your home and run away into the wild city of New York than those things are put aside and you have to worry about real life and significant decisions. Those decisions will influence your life, and change it forever, so caution and a brain come in handy, but your heart is just as important.
I've become stronger. This journey has changed my way of thinking and my view of the world. Positivity has fought negativity and won. Now, is the second part of our journey, and it's going to be great. I just know it.
Well one thing isn't going to be that great.
The flight.
I'm terrified of flying, although I've never stepped foot on one. Those gigantic, metal flying birds, as Rio's friend's would say, scare me away the moment I look at them.
No, no,no.
You can do it.
Sort, of. Perhaps. Anyway...
"Girls. We're leaving!" Alex shouts from downstairs.
I storm out of my room, dragging my already over packed suitcase. I just hope there won't be any problems at the check ins. Well it's under 20 kg so it should be fine...
We say a quick goodbye to Mrs. White and head off. I take Rosie by the hand, clutching it and grab my bag with the other. The taxi waits outside the front door, we hop in and the driver zooms past the, surprisingly empty roads. By empty I mean, there's not 1000 cars, just a few here and there. Everybody is probably at the beaches relaxing or strolling around town. I can bet we are the only ones having to leave due to a crazy person chasing us. A person who I used to call mother.
When we reach the airport I feel a knot form in my stomach, and tighten with every step I take towards the building.
I'm only minutes away from stepping onto that massive thing.
I don't want to die.
Nonsense, Chloe, you won't.
I bless myself quickly, just in case.
We pass through the entrance and I feel ready to do this.
