"What do you mean?" I whisper.

He lets out an exasperated sigh and plops himself down on the black, leather swivel chair

"I can't tell you" he replies, and I sense a bit of nervousness in his voice.

"Why not?"

"Because I can't. Quit asking."

I think that the best thing to do in this situation would be to give up on arguing because it could lead to a fight but being the stubborn human that I am, I keep on tugging at him.

"Then at least tell me why you can't explain all this to me" I edge him on.

He sighs once again and shakes his head- " I already told you, I don't want to hurt you. Before you oppose and say I won't, I assure you I will".

"I'm going to find out someday anyway, the longer you hide it from me the worse this is going to get. We can put it behind in the past sooner if you tell me now. I'd want hear this from you rather than anyone else because...-" I pause, regretting I even began this sentence.

"Why?"

"Now who's asking questions?" I smirk up at him and he gives me an amused look.

"Don't try and change the topic"

"I'm not"

"Keep telling yourself that. Tell me why?" he looks genuinely interested.

"Will that get me the answers I want in return? I raise an eyebrow at him.

"Yes, it will" he throws his arms up in the air, rolling his eyes, showing me I won.

Ha, Chloe-1I Alex -0. Or maybe not.

Now how do I explain this without making it sound like I'm pouring my emotions out?

"Fine then. Well it's simply-"

"Something to do with you is simple?" he smirks at me, eyes laughing.

"Funny"

"I know, now keep going" he looks annoyed.

You're the one that cut me off. What's that sudden change in his tone? And they say girls are hormonal, I guess I have to have a word with those people.

"Well it's...I don't know?" It just hit me that I actually have no clue why. Well okay, maybe I do, I just can't admit it.

"If you don't know the answer to my question then I don't know the answer to yours"

"But you do?"

He flashes me a smile and shakes his head. Right, I'll say it, whatever is to happen will happen and I'll have to deal with the consequences of making myself sound like a fool.

"Okay, for some reason, and God knows why, I feel like I can trust you and if whatever it is you have to tell me will make me have a break down, you won't be like the others and actually understand and not make me shit about myself like all those other people would...Everyone else would probably think I'm not acting the age I should be. But it's okay if you do too, I know I'm difficult to stand..." I figure there's no point of continuing as he probably already gets the idea.

I should have just said something normal like " Because you'd understand" and not drag on the sentence but it's too late now. Alex stares at me wide- eyed, surprised at my sudden out burst of words, most likely realising I haven't ever said that much at once. He doesn't say anything for a moment and I feel the need to exit this situation. It's too awkward and he must think I'm mistaken when thinking he'll be any different. I was supposed to find out what was going on but this whole thing backfired.

"Nevermind. Forget it." I bounce off the bed and rush to door but his reflex is obviously better than I thought. He grabs my wrist, and spins me towards him once again.

My eyes meet his blue gaze and I try to look for any sign of annoyance but there's simple compassion in them.

"Stay. It's my turn now. And thank you...for trusting me..." he trails off a little.

We stand there staring at each other for no apparent reason. In my opinion, a bit too close.
