I don't know what's worse. Having no one to talk to at the end of the day when you're feeling alone or feeling alone when you first wake up and having no one to talk to, knowing it'll be the same for the whole day, till you do it all over again.

"Dad, Dad, Dad," Ally squeals.

I feel the bed dip under her weight as she climbs on top of me.

"It's Christmas Dad, its Christmas," she smiles.

I turn to her slowly and watch as brown eyes light up with happiness, bun hopping with her as she bounces, and a smile that hasn't died yet.

"Is it?" I chuckle.

"Yes, we have to get up and open the presents, I have a present for you too," she beams.

I wait till she goes skipping out the room to get up, and not happily. I check my phone for messages but its only 7:35 a.m., most people are still asleep.

"Hey Mom, Merry Christmas," I say into the phone.

"Merry Christmas, I should be there in about an hour, make sure the house is ready," she says.

It was 8:30 now. By 10:00 Nick, Eli, Mikey and their parents would be here

"Well they shouldn't be here for awhile," I answer, watching as Ally tries to put her hair into a ponytail.

"Linda and all those girls are coming too," Mom sighs.

"Oh, that's cool, well most of the house is set up already, Ally and I are dressed, presents are under the tree," I nod.

Ally goes and grabs a cookie from the platter on the table and I don't even stop her, its not like Santa is gonna' eat them.

"Good, well I'm on my way home from work now, see you in a minute."

"Alright, later, Mom," I sigh, hanging up the phone.

"Ally, no more cookies, we have to save some for the guests," I laugh.

She smiles and nods with a mouth full of green iced sugar cookies.

"Fix your skirt," I nod.

She looks down and pulls at the white tutu she decided to wear. She wasn't liking the clothes I was picking out for her anymore, she was seriously growing up.

"Is Mikey coming over?" she asks.

"Yeah, he should be," I shrug, pushing my hair back in place.

Pompadour. Ha, funny word.

"Do you love Mikey?" she murmurs thoughtfully.

"Yeah, of course I love Mikey," I laugh.

"Like you love me, or like how a Mommy and Daddy love eachother?" she asks.

I look down at her in mild shock.

"How about you go eat some more cookies?" I laugh nervously.

She nods happily and goes to devour some more sweets. Goodness, how the fuck do these kids know all this shit?

I startle when my phone rings.

"Hello?" I answer, not bothering to check the name.

"Hey, I was wondering what time we should be there?"

"Oh, Mikey, well uh-ten should be fine I guess."

"You sound surprised," he snorts.

"I kind of am."
