I sat on my bed listening to Pandora and thinking about what Zoe and LB told me.
"You need to learn self defense." I looked at them like they were crazy. "Are you calling me defenseless?" I looked at both of them. Unbelieveable. "Are you fucking serious?!" I stood and looked at both of them, shook my head and stormed away. I made my way towards the kitchen. I grabbed two small slender knives and launched them by their heads as soon as they made it through the thresh hold. They were frozen in their spots. "I'm not fucking defenseless." I said through my teeth. I placed my hands on the counter. "I agree there are somethings I need to work on and can learn but-" I walked up to both of them. "Never call me defenseless." I brushed past them and walked away.
It had been a couple months since the incident and a month since they called me defenseless. My father taught me how to throw knives when I was a little girl because I loved the sleek slender of them and the way they could cut through almost anything. I was my daddy's little girl but alot of things changed about me when I was with Le'Land including letting my guard down. Only to become the biggest mistake of my life. I had been training with Palar. I was already in good shape but I was starting to become even better. I was able to run 12 miles without wanting to die. I was able to do a army and navy obstical course with ease and I was alot stronger.
We were practicing. I was teaching Palar how to throw knives. "What's the farthest you've ever thrown a knife?" I looked at her really giving it some thought. "500 yards off the top of a building." She looked at me impressed. "That's amazing Lai'." I smiled. "How about I make us some lunch." She nodded as we walked into the house. I handed Palar a bowl and sat at the table with her. "Muchachos hay sopa de taco en la cocina si su hambre. (Boys there's taco soup in the kitchen if your hungry.)" They hopped up and fled for the kitchen like their ass was on fire. "Calm down boys I'm pretty sure Lai'Lanni made plenty." I looked to see LB face deep in his bowl. "Slow down LB it's more than enough." I told my brother. "Lai' you have always made the best Taco soup. Ever since MaMa taught you it was all you ever perfected to cook. You make it better than she does. Don't tell her that." He looked kind of worried. I chuckled. "Your secrets safe with me big brother. I'll teach Palar and give her the recipe." She nodded and giggled at LB.
After they left I went to shower. I was in a pair of blue tights and a OBEY crop top with a black pair of footies. As I made my way downstairs I saw the lights off, candles lit and Otis Redding's I Been Loving You Too Long. "Lorenzoe?" I called out to him. As I was turning the corner to look for him he grabbed my hand and pulled me to him causing me to giggle. He started swaying with me in his arms. There was a sense of calmness wash over me. He softly sung the song in my ear. I rested my head on his shoulder and nestled into his neck.
"Thank you." I whispered into his ear. He leaned to look at me. "Told you no matter what. I'm gonna be here. I promised. I meant it." He pecked my lips and kept swaying.
We were laying in bed and I rolled over to see that I was alone. "Zoe?" I called out as I climbed out of bed in a lime green sports bra, black boy shorts and black footies. I heard noise down the stairs in the den. I grabbed my pack of blades. I sneak down the stairs to see Lorenzoe tied to a chair beat up and taped.
