Ten Years Later
My reflection stares back at me from the cracked mirror of my apartment, and I lightly run a finger along the scar that runs up my stomach.

It feels as if only yesterday I had been lying on that cold floor, blood streaming from the wound and staring in horror at the boy who had once been my best friend.

Staring in disbelief as the boy I once loved died in my arms.

"Mommy! Daddy wants you downstairs!"

I give her a soft smile as she tugs me out of the room, scrambling down the stairs with my help.

My husband is waiting at the bottom, a blank expression painted across his hard face.

"What is it, Jerry?" I question, and he shakes his head without speaking.

Suddenly there are footsteps behind me and I freeze, turning around slowly.

I was dreaming.

There stood an older looking version of the boy I once knew.

"AJ?"
