"I was in that cell for 3 weeks. Until Carlos and the gang finally started to worry. Then they rescued me. But not before this,"

Joey pulls up his sleeves, to reveal a bunch of scratches, causing me to gasp.

"They whipped me, trying to get information. Didn't work though,"

He smiles cheekily and I grin.

We are sitting on the bench I had sat on a few weeks ago when I had seen that figure on the outskirts of the forest. Wait.

"Joey, a few weeks ago I swear I saw a figure back there that looked exactly like Chrome, but then AJ came over and he disappeared..."

I trail off as I gesture to the woods, and Joey pursed his lips.

"Chrome is after you. AJ is a part of his gang. The Raptors."

Whenever we went to fighting arenas, I payed close attention to everyone.

"How come I've never seen him at any of the gigs," I question, still not comprehending that AJ had endangered me.

On purpose.

"I believe Chrome has been hiding him for some reason. He sent him out here. To get close to you."

Joey looks disgusted, and he shakes his head before looking downward.

I sigh and cross my legs. "I just... I can't believe it, Joey. He's been so nice... well, for the most part."

I chuckle a little, and Joey glances at me suspiciously.

"Are you seriously sticking up for a Raptor?" He growls, glaring.

I look at him, wide eyed.

This is not the same Joey I had left all those months ago. The Joey I knew was understanding and calm.

"Joey," I start, but he just shakes his head and holds up his hands.

"Do you know how much the gang has gone through for you? Lila's in the hospital because she got ganged up on by three of the Raptors when she was home alone! Her parents think she fell down the stairs!"

My eyes widen at this, and I jump up.

"I need to go see her! I can't believe... they've never tried that before! To actually attack us!" I cry hysterically, and he clenches his jaw.

"Well none of them ever went to jail before. Especially their leader."

Ignoring his last remark, I gesture to his car which sits across the lot.

"Joey. I need to see her!"

He groans and gets to his feet, glaring at me.

"No! It's too dangerous! That's why I'm here. Carlos told me that I had to get you out of here while the gang takes care of the Raptors."

My eyes harden as I glare back, crossing my arms.

"No! I'm not running. Not again!" I scream in his face, and he shoves me back.

My eyes widen as he himself flinches. I don't know has gotten into him.

"I'm sorry. Please, Rosalie. I have to keep you safe!" He pleads, his eyes softening.

Sighing, I let my shoulders droop.

"Fine."
