Half of my night was filled with worry over my Grandmother and how she was coping with her new environment and the other half filled with nightnares or intensified nightmares about her aiming a steak knife at me. I hadn't got barely enough sleep so I was running late for school, as usual. I grabbed a slice of plain toast not having time to add any condiments to it and ran out the door attempting to catch the bus. I barely made it but I did, thankfully.
I waltzed into school searching for my best friend, Paula. I spotted her flirting with her boyfriend, Mike across the hallway. They were really cute together and I was really happy for them. Paula being with Mike meant that she didn't spend as much time with Kyle and I but I tried not to show how much it bothered me that we didn't hang around as much as we used to.
I didn't want to bother her so I searched for Kyle instead.
"Hey, my sexy best friend." Kyle hugged from behind me and I caught a glimpse of his smirking face.
"Why hello. I just can't seem to take my eyes off you Kyle. You're looking very hot today," I joked. He was looking good today, his brown messy hair was styled carefully but looked like he had just woken up. His red and white letterman jacket draped over his shoulders, beneath a plain white t-shirt that clung to his well defined chest, dark blue jeans and grey converse. Kyle was a very, very good looking guy but we had a mutual friendship and we preferred it that way. I did however still appreciate his god like appearance.
"All the best for you chika." He winked.
I loved the relationship between Kyle and I. We joked and played around but neither of us took anything seriously, it was great.
"So my little minion, what's on your mind," he said ruffling my hair just a little.
"Well master, I have grave news for you," I bowed to him and put on my best "sad" voice.
"Kiss my feet. Then, we shall talk," he declared jokingly.
Me being, well, me actually kissed his feet which had us doubling over clutching our stomachs for about ten minutes laughing uncontrollably.
After we had calmed down the bell rang signalling classes had started. Kyle walked me to my first class still in shock I has taken him so literally.
"You can tell me about it later?" He smiled.
"Sure." I was actually relieved that telling him about my grandmother was now postponed. I didn't really feel like talking about it right now, it was a sensitive subject.
He bowed to me before jogging off.
"Master, I am not worthy of your bow," I called after him.
He span around, jogging backwards.
"You can repay me later my evil minion," I saluted him before walking into my history class.
"Take a seat Miss Price, you're late. Next time it's a detention," Mr Burns droned.
I took a seat next to Scottie White, he was a great guy and a good friend of mine.
"What up Scottster?" I said holding my hand out for one of those cheesy fist pounds. He knocked his fist against mine grinning like an idiot.
"Nothing much, what about you Lou?"
"Everything's a-OK." I said holding my hand out in the shape of an O.
"That's what I like to hear."
Scottie and I played around the whole period earning us a few glares from Mr Burns. He walked me to my English class before leaving to go to his own.
"Until next time Scottster."
"Until I am graced with your presence again, Lou."
I laughed and blew him a kiss which he pretended to catch and put in his pocket. He was a funny guy.
I walked into English and took my seat next to Paula. She hugged me and gave me all the details of her make-out session with Mike this morning. I listened intently just like a good friend although my mind was other places today.
I was always a little jealous of my best friend. She was obviously beautiful. She had long auburn hair which stopped half way down her back. She was toned and had beautiful bright blue eyes with grey specks. I envied her looks compared to my average ones. I had long blond hair, not as long as Paula's but still long. It was soft and natural unlike so many other girls but I still wished for Paula's hair. I had high cheekbones and plump pink lips.My eyes were a chocolate brown colour and I considered them my best feature but again, Paula's beauty always had me wishing I had her looks.
"That's great babe, but I got something to tell you." She immediately stopped talking and listened intently while I explained the situation with my grandmother.
"You can come live with me. My mom wont mind, she loves you," she beamed as if it were that simple although still giving my hand a sympathetic squeeze.
" As great as that sounds, I can't plead poverty off your mom, she has four kids of her own. I'll find somewhere, don't worry," I said trying to sound confident. Paula saw right through my act, she was my best friend after all, it was her job.
"You're just putting on a brave face Louisa, I know you too well."
I sighed.
"Okay, if I don't find somewhere within the next two days we'll talk more. How does that sound?" I asked praying she'd go along with it.
"Mmmm...okay, but you gotta tell me Louisa." Her eyes were pleading.
"I will," I lied.

At lunch I went to the line in the cafeteria bought my food and headed for our table outside.
"So, getting evicted huh?" I turned to face Daniel Collins, school heartthrob and the son of my landlord. Figures I would bump into him and he would know all about my current situation.
I didn't see what all girls saw in him. Sure he had the All-American-boyish looks with his messy brown hair, his ice blue eyes, muscled body and his charming smile. I'd be a fool to say that he wasn't good looking, he was. But that didn't change the fact he was an ass, just like his father.
"Um, yeah. Not that's it's any of your business Danny," I retorted mockingly giving him my best glare.
"Well I did come to offer you help but if that's how you want to play," he said looking at me behind his incredulously long lashes.
"Wait, help? You want to help me?" I asked taken aback.
He grinned. "Yes, let's make a deal."
"Well, what do you propose?" I asked trying to sound confident.
He chuckled darkly, smirking at me. I gulped what am I getting myself into? And could I really trust Daniel Collins to be my saviour?
