Louisa's P.O.V

The nights were starting to get warmer as summer drew nearer and nearer. Our exams were just around the corner. I had been studying almost every night and Daniel was there with me some nights, but they were becoming less and less.

I knew we were both stressed and our futures were relying on these few days that were filled with question upon question, but I couldn't help but notice how he was gone a lot. I didn't pry though, he had been having problems with his dad for months, that's why he stayed with me most nights although he did come in pretty late when I was asleep, only noticing him the next morning.

He was gone most lunch times too, extra practice he said, but Kyle never knew anything about it and it had me questioning him, but again, I lay off. He obviously had a good reason for not staying around at lunch but his game was much better, I noticed every time I watched him play so it settled the doubt I had. It never fully went away though, it was always there in the back of my head but I tried to keep it at bay, he didn't have a reason to lie to me.

Again I was alone in my apartment, studying. I only wished I had listened to all those history lessons instead of messing around for months telling myself I had plenty of time, when in reality I didn't. I had merely days now.

My eyes grew heavier and heavier as I read about the Civil War, taking important notes and answering questions from previous exams. My head finally dropped onto the cushion behind me, my books still sprawled on my lap, pencil in my hand and I slipped into unconsciousness.

Daniel's P.O.V

Tonight was the same as any other. I went to the club where I served all my usual clients, mostly woman who clung to me like glue while I tried to remove them from my arm. Kylie, a regular, was especially clingy tonight and I had to restrain myself from telling my dad where to shove his job. The girl could only be described as revolting.

I felt like I was cheating on Louisa and I knew she was starting to suspect things weren't right, I was just lucky enough that our exams distracted her for now. Summer couldn't come faster for me, once I was finished high school, this would be the end of my relationship with my dad, working and family related.

As usual, after my shift I deposited the money to my father's study, hung up the keys to my Aston Martin on the key rack and drove my familiar silver Porsche to Louisa's. I used the key she had cut for me to let myself in to find her asleep on the sofa, exhausted. I kicked off my shoes and jacket and scooped her up in my arms before carrying her into bed.

I lay her down gently on the bed pulling a blanket over her and placing a kiss on her forehead before climbing in beside her and wrapping my arms around her. She stirred and turned to face me, eyes open but tired.

"You're late," she whispered.

"I know baby and I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you, I promise," I reassured her.

"What have you been doing all these nights? I miss you when you're gone," she confessed and it broke my heart.

"I miss you too. I promise I won't be gone much anymore," I said avoiding the question.

"But what is it that you've been doing? Is there someone else?" Her eyes were filled with pain and un-shed tears and it was killing me. I obviously wasn't doing my job right if she thought such things, I could only ever love her.

"Louisa," I said firmly but still gently. "You are my one and only, my everything. I will never love another person, it's only you, you are my life."

"Why haven't you been here then? I know we're both stressed at the minute but that doesn't mean you just forget about me. I've been patient the last few months but it's getting more often. All those extra practices, Kyle had no clue about, neither did any of the other guys on the team, please just tell me the truth, I can handle it," she pleaded.

I seriously considered telling her, but that would mean loosing her and putting her in potential danger. There was too much risk, far more than I was willing to take.

"It's just my dad he's been an a** as usual," I shrugged and pulled her closer, my nerves soaring.

"That's never been a problem before, you always just come here," she said, pulling away.

"I can't explain it he's just him I guess."

"Why aren't you being truthful with me? I thought I meant more to you than that," the tears spilled over now and I almost broke down myself.

"You mean everything to me. There's just nothing to tell baby, you have nothing to worry about. I love you."

I pulled her into me again and this time she didn't protest just lay there until I heard her breathing go shallow.

So much was running through my head now and I couldn't sleep. I knew Louisa wouldn't drop the subject this easily and I had bought myself a few days maximum but I couldn't tell her. Telling her and not telling her put me in the same position, I would loose her either way.

I lay awake for hours until my phone started ringing from my jeans pocket. I answered it quickly as to not wake Louisa.

"Wow, didn't think I'd get through on the first try."

"What the hell do you want?" I spat.

"Uh oh, did I interrupt something?" His dark laugh came from the other end of the line making me feel sick.

"I'll ask again, what the hell do you want?" I hissed walking out of the bedroom, closing the door behind me.

"Is that a way to talk to your father?" He teased.

"You're not my father," I said through gritted teeth.

"Well then, is that a way to talk to the man who has your girlfriend's life at their mercy?"

I paused.

"That's what I thought. Now, you're going to come over here tomorrow, collect your sh*t that arrived today and go do a little business with the boys," he commanded.

"What sh*t? I didn't have anything arriving."

"Oh yes you did. Daddy bought you a little present. I hope you can pick up the technique quickly. After all, you only have to pull the trigger, right?" He said in a mocking tone.

"You bought me a f*cking gun?" I restrained myself from shouting but kept all the anger and intensity in my voice.

"Consider it a gift."

"A gift my a**! And what's this business?" I asked furious.

"Well, people are trying to deal on my turf so they must be dealt with, and you are the dealer."

"And you're the devil!" I hissed before hanging up.

Furious and absolutely terrified, I sunk down into the sofa with my head in my hands. I didn't know whether to scream or cry, I wanted to do both at the minute. He had took things too far, he wanted me to kill. I was now officially a part of the gang and I didn't want to pay the membership fees.
