Louisa's P.O.V

I cleaned myself off then made my way to the sitting room, back to Scottie. Today had been one of the best days of my life. Scottie always knew how to put a smile on my face and today, hanging out with him and goofing around, I felt something more than friendship towards him. It was like the spark of a firework but not the full explosion yet.

As I walked into the bright room, my day turned dull and my mood sour. Seeing Daniel was like sucking on a lemon. One day, why couldn't he just give me one day? I asked myself, willing someone to give me an answer.

Scottie turned to me, a look of hurt etched across his beautiful face. Wait, I thought he was beautiful? Sure, I always thought he was good looking and I knew he was. His long-ish blond hair swept into his face, his green eyes were piercing. He had a strong jaw and nice bone structure. He also had a great muscular body like the rest of the jocks.

But I couldn't feel anything for one of my best friends, right? He was hurt by me and that brought a tear to me eye. But why did he look so hurt? We were just friends, right?

"I can explain," I said, my voice barely a whisper, and shaking. I was so scared at Scottie's reaction. I didn't want to lose him, I couldn't.

"It's fine, I get it," he said through clenched teeth, his nostrils flaring just the slightest, trying to control his anger, hurt and confusion. I could read Scottie like a book, we were really close and he really opened up to me. I didn't want to ruin the relationship we had.

Daniel cleared his throat and I noticed him standing there, a look of amusement in his cold eyes. He was enjoying this.

"Why are you here? What do you want?" I spat.

"I've come to collect. On the rent." He added as if I was a stupid little girl.

"Don't dare talk down to me Daniel Collins." My eyes turned to slits. Scottie watched our exchange in bewilderment, he obviously thought we were a secret couple or something. He didn't know how far but also how close his judgement was.

Daniel just stood there, leaning against the doorway with his arms folded.

"I think you'll find I can do whatever I like Miss Parks. Remember who owns this house." He gave me an evil smirk.

"Yeah, you're ass of a father. Funny how you resemble him in almost everyway, safe to say there's no question you're related."

I hit a nerve there. Daniel's jaw clenched and he stood up straight before striding towards me and grabbing my wrist in his strong grasp.

"I don't think you're in any position to be insulting me or my father," he hissed.

"Your father's the devil. He's a heartless p**ck." I held my ground, not wavering in the slightest, which I knew I'd pay for later but he got me so riled up.

"Yeah? Well I'm the devil's son and you better get used to me being around, cause I will be. A lot. Don't forget our deal." He lowered his voice so only I could hear. We glared at each other, staring each other out.

Scottie's voice brought us out of our death glare exchange.

"Get. Your. Hands. Off. Her." He said each word slowly. His voice lethal.

"And what are you going to do about it if I don't?" Daniel challenged, not letting go of my wrist.

It was so quick my eyes barely caught it. Scottie's fist drew back then flew into Daniel's face connecting with his jaw. Daniel stumbled back and fell on his back, not expecting the sudden collision.
