"Are you ready for the game Val?" Mary asked, coming out of the bathroom, Valerie's ceramic straightener in her hand. "Cause all I need to do is put a little makeup on."
"Yeah, I'm almost done!" Valerie shouted from her walk-in closet, still changing into her outfit.
She finally finished pulling up her mint green Lira Rose shorts, then she slipped on her VANS Era Acid Denim Trainer blue shoes. She walked out with her red Jersey A Baseball jacket, watching her best friend put mascara on. "Do you need help?"
"No," Mary replied, putting the mascara brush back into its tube. "But thanks for asking. I would help you with yours, but I know that you would never really wear makeup."
Valerie smiled, covering her light peach-colored zip tiered tank with the baseball jacket. "Is that what you're wearing? Do you need a jacket? I could get you one out of my closet."
Mary looked down at what she was wearing: Zara polka dot denim shorts, a Bad Ideas tank top that had "Best Memories Come From Bad Ideas" written on the front with a heart cut out on the back, turquoise Austique Ss13 Thong sandals, and lastly, she had her favorite Michael Kors Collection glam rock pyramid stud earrings. She didn't find anything wrong with it, but she knew it was kind of going to get cold at the football game. "No thanks. If I get cold I'll use Kirkland's varsity football jacket."
"Okay," Valerie replied, running out her room with Mary following her. "Football game here we come!"
Suddenly, in front of them stood Genee and Valerie's mom. "Val, were you thinking about using my car?"
She nodded. "Yeah, but just this once! I want to go to the football game so badly!"
A smile formed on Genee and Valerie's mom's face. Genee threw the car keys to her younger sister, then walked back into the kitchen.
"Call me when you're about to leave the football game," Her mom continued to smile, walking into the kitchen. "Don't forget to cheer Chance on!"
Valerie rolled her eyes, then rushed outside to Genee's car. They got in, and drove off to the football game.
Chance's POV
I looked at the scoreboard: 21-14. We were winning by just seven points. Of course, I was proud of my team, but when I looked in the stands, I didn't see Valerie cheering for me. I mean, us. I know what you just know thought; Chance must like Valerie! Haha...no. I'm in love with Baleigh Hills, who is definitely not Valerie Reeds. Valerie is just sort of a friend. We stopped being friends when we reached 8th grade, but I don't care. I want my old best friend back.
"Dude, look at Baleigh!" My best friend, Garrett informed me. I looked over towards where my girlfriend was, seeing a beauty in her cheerleader uniform, cheering me on. I didn't see why he wanted me to look at her. "What about her?"
"I've been hearing around school that she plans on having sex with you tonight after the game."
My eyes widened a little, a smirk forming from my lips. "Good, cause I was planning on having sex with her after the game anyways."
Garrett shook his head, and patted my back. We were only on our 3rd quarter, and I can't wait for this stupid game to be over. Our team always wins against Nortin High, so I'm sure nobody will be surprised that they lost.
Baleigh strutted over to me, then dropped her pom-poms on the sideline. Her arms slid their way around my neck, while my hands settled down on her hips. "So, did Garrett tell you about my plans?"
"Yeah," I smirked, planting a small kiss on her lips. "And I think I like your plans cause I had the same idea."
She smirked, kissing my lips roughly. I couldn't wait for the end of the game, she's great if you know what I mean.
Third Person POV
Valerie watched the two flirt with each other; Mary and Kirkland. Sure, she felt like she was the third wheel, but she didn't mind. It was normal for her to be the third wheel while her best friends were having fun.
"Thank god the game is almost over!" Mary groaned, lying her head down on Kirkland's shoulder.
Why don't they just date already? Valerie asked herself. She shrugged, staring at the linebacker, Daniel Vincent. Valerie had to admit, Daniel was cute. Not sexy, but cute. He had windswept light brown hair, and Valerie knew how soft it was. She loved to just touch his hair. His eyes were as light green as a leaf, and did he have some muscle! Not to mention, he was tall. Six foot and two inches to be exact.
"Valerie, stop staring at Daniel," Mary scolded, snapping her fingers in front of Valerie's smiling face. "I didn't know you liked him."
"I-I don't," Valerie stuttered. "He's just cute, that's all."
Kirkland smiled. "You sure you don't like him? Cause I could help you get together with him."
"No thanks," She laughed. "Last time I checked, he and I are just friends."
He shrugged. "Suit yourself."
Mary and Kirkland continued their little flirt fest, while Valerie just sat there waiting for the game to hurry up and end. It's not that she didn't like football, in fact, she loved the sport. It's just that she was getting dog-tired, and just felt alone when her best friend was flirting with a guy. It made her feel like the third wheel, like always.
"Well the game is almost over," Kirkland spoke up, standing up from the metal bleachers. "Guess it's time for me to go home."
"Well, at least we won!" Mary smiled, handing Kirkland his varsity football jacket.
Kirkland pushed his jacket back over to her gently, a smile forming. "No, you can have my jacket. I don't really need it anyways."
Valerie watched her friend's smile widen. "Okay, well, see ya later Kirkland!"
He smiled at Valerie, then planted a kiss on Mary's cheek. "Night, babe!" He hugged both Mary and Valerie goodbye, and jogged down the bleachers.
"Well, looks like it's time to go home!" Mary heaved a sigh out of relief. "These damn mosquitoes keep biting me!"
Valerie laughed, wrapping her arms around her Jersey A Baseball jacket to keep her warm. Her and Mary started their way down the bleachers, extremely relieved that they get to go home.
