Williams POVWilliam smiled as he watched Alice sleep. He wanted to memorize her face. Those emerald green eyes, the long blonde hair, the rose red lips. He found that he wanted to do more than memorize those. He shook his head and thought of other things, things that were safe to think of.
The doctors said that she was lucky, if the dog had bit any deeper she would've lost some skin. William knew that if he hadn't arrived, the dog would've torn into her brain and ate it. As much as he hated to admit it, the beast would make a lovely Hellhound. A hellhound guards the entrance to hell, sucking the souls from the people destined to spend eternity there. A Hellhound starts out as a dog with rabies. If the dog attacks a vampire or his Person, they are taken down to a lab in Hell and injected with demon blood. It is a fate worse than death.
William turned his attention back to Alice and was struck by the desire to touch her. To lay his hand on her, to sweep her hair out of her face. Alice turned towards him in her sleep, mumbling,"Bad dog. No. No. No!"
William leaned in and whispered in her ear,"It's okay. You're safe. Shh."
Alice stirred and sat up, opening her eyes. She looked alarmed to find herself in a hospital bed. She seemed to calm down as she looked at William. He was confused until she said,"I'm dreaming. That's the guy from my dream. The one with warm hands. The one who I wanted to show up outside my window with roses." William smiled. Roses, huh? And warm hands? This girl was trouble. He wanted to be in trouble so bad. He cleared his throat to get her attention. Alice blushed but looked him in right in the eye. She went on the offensive," Yes! You have warm hands! So? Everyone does! And I like roses! No matter who gives them to me! You don't even exist! I could do whatever I wanted to you and it wouldn't matter."
Well she was right about the last part. She could do whatever she wanted to him. He wished she would, As if she could read his mind, she grabbed the back of his head and pulled him down to her. He just had time to think about how screwed he was and that she was freakishly strong before their lips met.
William gasped with surprise but didn't pull away. Her mouth was so soft against his. He felt warmth spreading through him as he tasted her tongue. He pulled Alice closer to him. He needed this more than blood and he would have it! Rules be damned! Alice wrapped her arms around his neck. William felt something within him stir. He could hear Alices' heart racing. He could her her blood calling his name. He pulled away but never took his eyes off her. He started to explain. He was going to tell her everything. Everything except that he loved her. There was time for that later.
"This isn't a dream. It's complicated. Let's start with simple. I'm William but you can call me Will. I'm definitely getting you those roses. You're a good kisser. Really good. Now onto the complicated. I'm a vampire assigned to protect you. I'm not really supposed to touch you but I couldn't help it. A rabid dog attacked you and I found you. I realized then that I don't ever want to leave your side because if you had died last night, I would've begged Lucifer to take me too."
William fell silent as he realized that was way too much to soon. Alice was silent for a long before she said,"I'm Alice. I would like red roses. Thank you. You were good too but you held back. I don't know how I feel about the vampire thing but if you haven't bled me dry already I guess you're not going to. I'm glad you came to save me. I don't mind you touching me. You're warm. Can you come lay next to me?" William smiled and laid down in the bed, wrapping his arms around her. He whispered,"You're safe with me. I won't bleed you dry. I won't taste a drop of your blood."
