Visitor

Alice's POV

Alice felt a splitting pain in her head as the morning sun entered the room. She groaned and pulled the covers over her head.  She felt Will's arms around her. He hadn't let her go all night, he was so afraid she'd slip away into the night. She knew she'd never leave, they'd work this out. She turned to face him and cupped his cheek. "Will you're gonna have to let go of me...unless you wanna be in the bathroom while I poop?" Will was in the middle of pretending to think about it-she hoped he was pretending- when a knock on the door interrupted him.

Will grumbled uneasily and let Alice go. As he went to get the door Alice dived into the bathroom and shut the door. She sat on the toilet and started to pee when whoever came to door started to speak. The voice was deep and had the hard edge of someone trying to be polite to an enemy. "Send Alice out. We know she's here." Will didn't respond for several minutes. When the words did come out, they were calm. "Alice and I had a fight yesterday. You should check her place cause she sure as hell isn't here."

Nice Will. Stay cool, no one needs to get hurt here.  The next words out of the visitors' mouth had Alice changing her tune. He spoke in the same hard tone but this time there was an undercurrent of malicious pleasure. "Look. We both know she's here all right? Now, you can bring her out or I can come in and get her. Your choice man." I could feel Will losing his cool as the visitor implied that he would take me by force.  He hissed,"You will enter my home only when you've ripped my heart from my chest!" The visitor snarled, deep in his throat,"That can be arranged, leech."   Alice heard the sound of a windpipe being crushed and her wolf took over.

Alice barreled through the bathroom door and into the visitor, snarling. He looked oddly satisfied for someone who was just tackled by a wolf. He groaned,"Knew you'd be here. Cutting it kinda close, don't ya think? I almost made your Mate disappear into the cosmos. "

Alice growled and let saliva drip onto her opponents face. Her opponent pushed her off and stood up. Alice growled and started forward but her opponent looked down and let his arms hang loosely at his sides, submitting to her. Alice huffed in approval but moved to stand in front of Will.

Her opponent took note of her stance. He cleared his throat and began,"I am Liam. I'm here on assignment from the Alpha. He demands you be brought to our lands so you can be taught our ways and customs. The Alpha says that your Mate  may come along but that if he attacks a member of the pack, you will be whipped. As your Mate, his actions reflect us. I will step outside while you two discuss this." Liam bowed to Alice and went outside, closing the door behind him.

Alice stood on her hind legs and let her features drift back to human. She put her head on Will's shoulder and whispered so Liam couldn't hear,"I have to go. This is my chance to learn about my primal side. I need to know why we're fated together. Plus something tells me I can't disobey a direct order from the Alpha. "

Will whispered,"I can be civilized Alice. The only reason things escalated earlier is because he was threatening to forcibly remove you. Among my people, I am the most levelheaded. Take me with you, please. I'll make you proud to say that you're with me."

Alice pulled back and,ignoring Will's wounded expression went to the fridge.  She grabbed the four remaining blood bags and walked back over to him,"It isn't a road trip without snacks. Go easy on those though, they're all you have left."

Will smiled and kissed Alice. "I love you. "

Alice growled playfully,"I love you too my Mate. Let's go meet my family.

They went outside to tell Liam their decision, "He nodded,"I thought you'd make that choice. The Alpha would very much like to meet William. And of course, you Alice, the pack has awaited your return for some time."

Both Will and Alice grimaced but followed Liam to his car, uncomfortable but determined to see this through. Alice tried to convince herself that everything would be fine. That became her mantra as they got in and Liam drove out of the city.
