William walked away from Alice. He was so angry it was all he could do not to scream. How dare she be angry with him for his choice of meal! In his heart he knew it was more about the fact that she had woken up alone and then tracked him to the club with a woman. He had to admit, it didn't look good. Now that he was full and satisfied he wanted to apologize...but he knew she wouldn't accept it right now.
He stopped walking. His feet had carried him home. He sighed and went in, resigned to sleeping without Alice.
His house was lavishly furnished. A flat screen TV came out of the wall, a stereo with Dolby surround sound dominated one wall. He turned right and kept going straight, past the kitchen, into his bedroom. He threw himself down on the bed, not bothering to take off his shoes. The black silk comforter welcomed him, promising sleep. William put his right arm underneath his head and stared up at the ceiling and tried to get a sense of Alice through the Mate bond.
When he opened himself up to the bond, Will felt a number of things, all barreling down on him like a linebacker. Anger was leading the charge followed closely by sadness. He heard a cracking sound and his right hand throbbed out its white-hot pain. Now he felt a deep satisfaction, despite the fire erupting from his hand. What the hell was Alice doing? She was obviously very satisfied that whatever she hit just broke her hand. What could she be hitting that could be that satisfying? Oh shit. Before his realization had even fully landed in his brain, he was out the door and using his vampire speed to get to Alice.
The scene in front of Will was appalling. Alice was on top of his food, fists beating down on her as she huddled in the fetal position.
Will grumbled deep in his throat. Alice looked up at him and growled. He hissed at her in response. She couldn't cause a scene like this, she'd be put in jail or exposed! Hell, she'd kill the poor human whose only crime was being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Will hissed at Alice again, his eyes hard with displeasure. She looked away from his smoldering gaze, submitting. Will said with quiet anger,"Get up Alice. You're coming home with me. You've disgraced yourself behaving this way." The food was brave enough to laugh. Will grabbed Alice's fist before she could hit the girl again. Alice snarled but Will just threw her over his shoulder and marched out of the club.
Will walked home without saying a word. He didn't want to admit that he liked the fact that Alice loved him so much she would beat up some poor unsuspecting human. The anger that emanated from Alice rivaled even that of a vampire whose Person had just died. He opened the door to his house-having decided that they were less likely to be interrupted here,- and set Alice down on the bed. He sat down next to her,"Your hand is broken, love. Does it hurt?"
Alice shook her head,"It throbs in rhythm with my broken heart." Will put his hand under Alice's chin, forcing her to look into his eyes,"I'm sorry my Mate. I should've waited for you to wake up but I was afraid I'd drink your blood...and I don't want that. Please let me heal your heart."
ALICE'S POV
Alice was held captive in Will's sky blue eyes. She wanted to look away, to shove at him but she couldn't move. Then he was speaking,"I'm sorry my Mate. I should've waited for you to wake up but I was afraid I'd drink your blood...and I don't want that."
Staring into Will's eyes, Alice felt tears spring to hers. They shimmered in her eyes, not willing to fall. "That just seemed so intimate Will. She was so...enraptured by you. You were drinking the blood from her veins and instead of being afraid....she was into it! If you can do that with someone else...it makes me wonder what else you can do."
She needed him to fix this, to reassure her. Will looked at her, then down at his hands. Alice moved to stand up, to go. Their relationship seemed over, no matter what the howling wolf in the back of her head said. Will's hand shot out to grab hers and stop her. He pulled her into his lap and whispered,"Don't you dare leave me Alice. Please. I'm yours. Just stay. I love you. Please stay."
All she wanted was to stay. He was hers. They belonged together and yet...they didn't. They were different species, different creatures. "Will...I...can't. You have to let me go."
Will's only response was to tighten his grip.
Alice tried again, knowing that what she was doing would break her heart, that it would be left at Will's feet. "Will, let go of me. I can't be with you anymore. In my heart it feels like you cheated on me."
This time will did respond, his voice was thick with tears,"Alice! No, please no! You can't leave me!"
Alice pulled back to look at him. Tears were streaming down his face. Her wolf howled at the sight of them. He's crying? How can vampires even cry? Her wolf howled at her to do something to stop his tears. Alice leaned Qq in and kissed him gently. She couldn't leave Will, he was hers. She pulled away,"I love you, Will. Next time drink from a guy if you have to drink from a live human. Or...you could drink from me."
Will groaned,"I don't want to drink from you, love. You're not food. You satisfy an entirely different need."
Alice ran he fingers through Will's hair,"Oh baby, I can do both. I want to."
The night dissolved into kissing and it became clear to the both of them that no one was going anywhere tonight.
