I was out buying stuff for our baby when I got the phone call that almost made me drop to my knees. Nick was ran off the road and I was needed at the hospital. His dad picked me up and we rushed so I could be by my husband's side. After waiting in the waiting room a doctor came and my heart raced as he sat with us.
"I'm doctor Holland and I am taking care of your husband Mrs. Memphis. He has a concussion and fractured wrist. His head hit the window hard and he may have memory issues when he wakes. He sustained cuts and bruises but overall is fine. We sedated him cause he was yelling about his wife being in danger. That is the only way we could treat him so I am sorry about drugging him. He is in a room now and we posted security outside his room. Some woman named Nicki tried to take him but ran off when security came. Room ten down the hall. If you have any questions or concerns please have me paged",he said running when a code was called out and his name shortly after.
I got up and walked with Nick's dad down the hall. He was as quiet as I was. When I came in the room my legs buckled at the sight of my husband he had bruises all over his body and cuts on his face. His dad grabbed and sat me in the chair by his bed.
"he will be fine honey. Nick is a tough man. I should know I raised him that way",he said sitting beside me. Tears fell as I held his hand and cried. Would she ever stop trying to take him and should I give up the man I loved all my life up.
His dad rubbed my back softly as we sat in silence. I didn't even notice when Andrea came and went. After two days he woke and I burst into sobs as I hug him.
"oh god Nick I was so scared. Thank god you woke up. Do you remember the accident?",I ask looking at his bruised face. He stares at me and my heart sinks.
"who are you?",he ask. It felt like a slap to my face as I stood and ran to get the doctor. He was examined and test were ran as I sat outside rubbing my baby bump. He doesn't know who I am and that hurts. As the doctor asked me back in he spoke words that had me sitting on the chair and holding back tears.
"your husband has amnesia",he said looking between Nick and myself. Nick looked shocked when the doctor said I was his wife.
"wife I don't have a wife",Nick said as tears fell from my eyes. It hurt so bad as I kept my head down and stared at my feet. His dad looked pissed as he seen how hurt I was from Nick's words. He sat beside me and spoke softly to me.
"he will remember honey just give it time. In the meantime I will take him to my house and watch out for him".
I nodded at a loss for words and stood up. I glanced at Nick before walking out. As I drive the only thing I could think of was I was gonna lose him now. Nick was a player before admitting he loved me but now I was a stranger to him.
"looks likes its just you and me now kiddo",I said wiping tears away as I pulled up to my gated house. Punching in the code I drive in and parked.
Home alone without my husband. It hurts so bad.
