"what problem?",I grit out.
"Nicki is trying to say when we arrested her and didn't read her the Miranda rights. She is claiming you sexually harassed her at the warehouse".
I shot to my feet anger filling me.
"I never touched that bitch at the warehouse I stood far away. This is bullshit why can't she just go away and leave us alone",I said hitting the counter. Beth jumped and whimpered. Fuck I scared her.
"sorry baby I didn't mean to scare you",I said looking at her. Her eyes were full of tears and her lip quivering.
"I got to go detective my wife needs me".
"I will keep you posted Mr. Memphis and I will do all I can to stop this bitch from getting out",the detective said before mumbling a goodbye then hanging up. Sighing I pull Beth in my arms and hold her. Sobs shake her body as she burrows closer.
"baby its fine I won't let that bitch near you or our kids. Please calm down baby..Please",I begged wiping her tears away.
She looks at me and nods before going on her tippy toes for a kiss. I lift her up and deepen the kiss.
She kisses back and I walk back upstairs and take her again. We both collapse exhausted after many rounds of making us forget our problems. I cuddle Beth and she falls asleep on me. I ease away and dress. Heading off I find Mitch for a talk.
"hey Mitch I know I don't thank you enough but I appreciate you protecting us. Beth is much more at ease with you here",I say sitting with a drink.
"no problem Nick I love working for you guys. Your like family to me",he said smiling at me while his eyes surveyed the room taking in everything. He was always so alert even here at our home. We talked about sports, weather then the issues we were currently having with Nicki.
"no matter what Nick you got me here as long as you need me. I will die protecting you guys",he said looking in my eyes. I smiled and knew he would and that would kill us if something happened to him.
"bro don't let Beth hear you talk like that she is already hormonal. I hope we have a girl this time",I utter to him. He chuckles.
"you know you can bring Ben back I will protect him to. I miss the little guy",he says drinking his coffee.
"well I just wanted to talk about Nicki and beefing up security. Thanks for everything Mitch you really are family bro",I say hugging him. Maybe I'm suffering from Beth's pregnancy hormones to. I head back upstairs but as I look outside I see a woman with bright red hair standing by our gates staring up at the window I'm looking out. She finger waves before walking away. I run downstairs and find Mitch standing at the sink rinsing his cup.
"Mitch a red headed woman was just staring at the house. She waved at me before walking off I hope the surveillance cameras caught a good view of her",I said dialing the front gate guards.
"yes a red head was just at the gates staring at my house did you
guys see her. Please tell me the cameras captured a picture of her",I said pausing for the guard to respond.
"yes sir we got a good view of her and sent her picture to the cops and are waiting for their response. Did you want us to bring a copy of her picture up to the house sir?"
"yes please and call me Nick",I say before hanging up. A couple minutes later the guard was there and we were looking at the strange woman. She looked familiar but I couldn't place her. Beth walked in and looked at us staring at the woman. When she walked over she dropped her glass and covered her shocked mouth. I caught her as she swayed.
"baby what's wrong? Are you okay?"
She was shaking as she snatched the picture. She started crying and I eased her to sit. Mitch grabbed her a new drink while the guard quickly cleaned up all the glass. He stood watching as Beth shook. Fear filled her eyes as she stared at us then the picture.
"she can't be back. She left...She left it can't be her",she whimpered. I was completely confused and getting more worried about Beth. She looked up at us and handed Mitch the picture.
"who Beth? Who is she and why are you so scared?",I asked. She sighed and drank some water. I just sat and the others did to.
"we thought she died but found out later she just ran away. She always hated me but staring at my house is her warning me she will hurt me like before",she mumbled like we all weren't sitting there. I pulled her in my lap and held her tight. She was shaking bad so I tightened my grip.
"who is she baby. Please tell us",I begged. Mitch was looking at the picture closely and every time he looked at Beth his forehead furrowed.
"should I call the doctor Mr. Memphis?",the guard asked looking at Beth concerned. She smiled sadly at him and nodded no. She sat up and took her seat back. I held her hand as she took a drink and cleared her throat.
"when I was a freshmen I was picked on a lot by her. She started hitting me and the only time I got any breaks from her was when I went to your or Andrea's house. She always told me I would never be with you cause I was ugly and fat. Mom found out during my junior year and told dad who flipped out. She was so far gone by the time the cops were brought in on her hurting me",she said wiping tears away.
"who baby? Who is she and why was she hurting you?",I asked kissing her knuckles.
Taking a big breath Beth looked at me and sighed.
"she is my sister that supposedly died but obviously ran away but now she is back".
I looked at the guys before glancing back at my wife.
"I never knew you had a sister",I said amazed.
"yeah we never talked about her cause she tried to kill me during junior year. She thought I was evil and should die. Remember when I was gone for two months",she said looking at me.
"yes, why?"
"well she poisoned me and tried to smother me in my sleep. Mom caught her and she ran away. We got word she died but that is obviously not true",she said wiping her tears away.
"what? Why come back now?",I asked watching my wife crumble.
Looking at us she sighed sadly.
"to finish the job",she mumbled.
