CHAPTER TWELVE

Over or Not

Just when things were going well, another threat to Ian’s life happened.  Ian and Penelope were out on their way out of their Valentine date at Comida Buena at Wallori City when someone fired a gun once more. At such time, Ian wasn’t shot but Penelope was . The security personnel who had been looking after Ian incognito had caught the shooter. The Wallori Police District was notified of the incident. The shooter confessed that it was Damian Villar who hired him to kill Ian. Penelope’s parents were notified. Geoffrey and Leianne joined Ian at Wallori City Medical Center. Penelope was shot by her shoulder. The bullets were meant for Ian but Penelope’s sudden movement had caused for her to be shot. The shot was  not fatal. It was just shallow and the bullet had exited. One of Ian’s close-in bodyguard had also been shot by his chest in the attempt to cover for Ian and Penelope. The bodyguard died on the spot.

Penelope’s parents and Mommy Estela with the assistance of one of Geoffrey’s lawyers filed the necessary charges against Damian Villar. Mommy Estela was so furious that Ian was attempted to be killed by their own father. Lola Laureana felt very disappointed with her eldest son. She felt so sad that both her sons were capable of inflicting harm against their blood relatives because of their jealousy and anger.

The following morning, the warrant of arrest was served to their father. Tita Emily and Leilani appealed to Mommy Estela to drop the charges but Mommy Estela stood her ground.

Mommy Estela’s exact words were, “I had let you ruined my marriage, Emily. I had let it pass. Your daughter tried to harm my daughter and now Damian tried to kill our son. I cannot let this just pass. My son and my daughter had done nothing wrong but to take care of Mama Laureana, Adelle and the company. Damian had to pay the consequences for his actions.”

By the end of the month, the case against Damian Villar had been won. Their father was found guilty. He had to spend years in Canyan Penitentiary and pay for the monetary fine.

March 9, 2012. Friday. It was Leianne’s thirtieth birthday. They had also discovered the sexes of their babies that morning during her prenatal visit. They were a boy and a girl.

Her fourth storybook entitled Ella was also released. It was based on the challenges in life that Mommy Estela had experienced as a child and weathered. The story had an epilogue of a happy old age life for Ella.

Leianne opted to have a simple family dinner to celebrate her birthday. Her family along with Penelope and Geoffrey’s parents joined them for dinner that evening at the penthouse.

Geoffrey didn’t work that day. After the checkup they went to shop for stuffs to put into the nursery. The room beside the master’s bedroom which they occupied had already been baby-proofed. It had already been repainted. Wall decors had already been hanged. Open baby cabinets had also been set up. A connecting door to the two rooms had already been built.

Leianne had already drawn the layout for the nursery. She and Geoffrey had personally looked for design ideas through magazines and the net. They bought two cribs with mobiles – a midnight blue color for their baby boy  and a maroon color for their baby girl. They also purchased a daybed appearing like a lush sofa, a changing table large enough to fit two babies with trash cans, hampers, two baby rockers, a glider chair with ottoman, open baskets for the open baby cabinets, night light with dimmer switch, breastfeeding pillow for twins, more baby toys including rattles and the complete set of all the Care Bears, burp clothes, receiving blankets, baby clothes, baby mittens, baby socks and many more. They had also purchased baby car seats, baby twin strollers, detachable play pen with big thick puzzle mats.
