CHAPTER SEVEN

The Fight

October 29, 2011. Saturday. Leianne had met up with her father and her uncle. They had agreed to meet up with her regarding the findings of the company. Leianne met up with them along with Maximo and Wilfredo. Geoffrey insisted that his two bodyguards accompanied her with her lunch meeting with her father and her uncle.

They met up in a private dining room in Canyan Hotel, a five star hotel in Wallori City.

Leianne gave her father and her uncle two choices. “Shall we have lunch or shall we talk about the company first?”

Her father answered, “I am not here to have lunch with you, Leianne. Get straight to the point.”

Her uncle seconded, “So what will you tell us about the company?”

Leianne gave her father and her uncle each a copy of the findings for the scam in the company. “You have two choices. It’s either you return the money or we bring this matter to the court.”

Her father was angry, “Are you threatening us?”

Leianne stayed calm and collected, “We have proofs and witnesses. I asked for this meeting so that we can settle this matter amicably. I’m just following Lolo’s wish of protecting the company.”

Her uncle shouted, “To hell with your Lolo! If he really wanted this family to be united, he should have not left you and Ian the sixty percent shares of the company.”

Leianne remained calm but deep within she couldn’t understand why her own father and uncle had resorted to the scam just to get back at to Lolo Fortunato and Lola Laureana. “Lolo and Lola might have shortcomings as parents to both of you. Still you both enjoyed the luxury that the company earnings had provided throughout the years. If you were good parents yourself you wouldn’t hide the money under your daughter’s name.”

Her father stood up and hit the table, “You’re just my daughter. You won’t be alive if not for me.”

Leianne’s tears instinctively fell but she still managed to muster her poise. She stood up also and then told his father, “I’m not forgetting that sad reality, Dad. Yes, you’re my father but you had cheated on Mom for her sister. You had abandoned me and Ian. You had cheated on the company for a reason I really don’t understand.”

Her father was about to slap her face but Geoffrey appeared and stopped her father’s hand. “You have no right hurting her, Mr. Villar.”

Her uncle stood up and badmouthed them. “You’re pathetic, Leianne. You had sold yourself to this limping playboy just to save the company. Do you even know that he dated Alyanna and Leilani? He’s just after expanding his business empire. Having the company was his plan all along.”

Leianne felt it was below the belt. She responded with poise once more. “I haven’t sold myself to him if that’s what you’re thinking, Tito. The money that rehabilitated the company came from me and not from the Torreses. I’m also aware about everything in his past including the way you had used your daughter just to forge a business partnership with him. I’m giving you until November 1 to decide. Return the money or let’s just meet at the court.” She had walked away. Geoffrey and their bodyguards followed her.

At the privacy of his SUV, she cried a lot on his chest. “Why are they so cruel, Geoff?”

Antonio started driving the SUV back to Villar Mansion.
