"We all want." - Anonymous

The space was velvety black though it seemed to undulate with unknown colors seen with enigmatic optics.

There were interspersed stars, shining through the velvet, glowing and pulsing with their natural order and the imposed order of man, some in line to create chain reactions, and some having their shape altered to server other purposes needed by man.

This was a reminiscent journey, one where visions of past, present, and future seemed to collide directly in his mind, crossing the mindmetal membrane and vibrating inside his very...soul? That is a word he had not thought about in a long while. The very thought of something ephemeral had not crossed his mind in millenia.

He didn't think in cycles like the others did, he still remembered when they were called years. He still thought of them as years, but never told anyone that. It was not like they would understand; or maybe they would, but it was a secret he wanted to keep for himself.

Something that only he remembered.

Silvery fingers worked across consoles, depressing buttons, tendrils of polymetal slotting into different ports, feeling every metallic click that reverberated through his body.

Away from his Empire, he floated free, free to do what he was compelled to do.
