12. Ryder
Ryder's POV
Not Edited
Pushing the front doors open, I stepped outside to be greeted by a gust of wind. "Did you get her?" Dad asked, jumping off the car.
"Yeah," I nodded, tugging my sleeves down. It is cold, even though I am a werewolf. "She'll be down in a little."
"You know Ryder," Someone's raspy voice said. I whipped my head to one of the guards who was standing not to far away. It was Jackson, one of the most hated males in the pack. He's not bad, he just has a reputation for trying to steal mates and had succeeded one or twice.
He has yet to find his mate at twenty-five. Normally, we find our mates before we hit nineteen years old. I'm guessing Jackson's wolf has become desperate and has convinced Jackson that one of the other males confused their mates.
None the less, he has taken other mates and ruined their lives, making him the most hated person in our pack. "I am excited to meet your mate." He finished.
I snarled at him. "Listen Lent, touch my mate, look at my mate the wrong way, think about my mate the wrong way, if you even dare have a conversation with her, I will not hesitate to snap your neck."
"Ryder. calm down." Mom tried soothing me, placing her hand on my shoulder.
I sighed turning to her. "I'm just taking extra precautions so he won't go near her."
Dad laughed, "Ryder even Lent isn't dumb enough to miss with the Alpha-to-be mate." He turned to Jackson. "Right?"
Jackson shrugged and smirked. "You may never know." A deep growl erupted from deep in my chest. My wolf was mad, but not as mad as I was.
"You're pushing his button." Wade commented, fixing the blanket that was wrapped around himself and Alyssa.
"Marley's taking pretty long." Alyssa added cuddling closer to Wade's chest.
"I don't see why. I packed half her clothes." I shrugged turning back to the building.
Dad stepped beside me. "Go grab her, she's probably nerves and doesn't want to come out." I nodded and made my way over to the building.
"I'll come!" Someone shouted before I felt something nudge my shoulder. Turning my head a little I saw Jackson and groaned.
"No, go back, I want you no where near her." I said while pushing the double doors open.
Jackson snorted, "But I want to meet this so called mate of yours."
I halted in steps and pushed Jackson against the wall. "Listen, she is my mate. You have yet to meet yours, don't go around trying to steal my mate because I swear I will kill you."
"You won't do shit." He snarled. "Your wolf is becoming desperate and Marley is mine."
I laughed coldly. "My wolf is not desperate. I found my mate and you will stay away from her."
Jackson nudged me off him. "We'll see." He began walking forward, missing the turn that led to Marley's room.
I sighed, choosing to allow him wonder off so that he wouldn't go near Marley. As soon as Jackson took the wrong turn, I left towards Marley's room.
A suddenly faint whisper reached my mind-link, Ryder come help me.
Before I knew it I was running towards Marley's room. I knew it came from Marley. My wolf was going crazy, wanting to be next Marley at this moment.
I finally reached Marley's door and knocked, only to be met by silence. "Marley, can you open the door?" The other end was still quiet. No shuffling, no attempts at being silent, just pin-dropping silence. "Marley, don't do this, just open the door." Still silence.
I had enough and quickly knocked the door down. "Marley I heard..." I trailed off when I saw her blonde hair spilled out on the floor. A panic suddenly rose in me. As quickly as I could, I rounded the bed and kneeled in front of Marley.
Pressing my fingers against her neck to check her pulse, a rush of relief swept through me when I felt the pulse. Still worried, I cupped Marley into my arms making her shiver and tug me closer. I smiled and ran out the room.
Right now all I wanted was to get Marley to the pack doctor and make sure she was safe. All other thoughts, except for one, fled my mind as we all jumped into our cars and drove off to the pack house.
The one thought that has yet to leave my mind was; Marley some how spoke to me through mind-link which means two things. One, her wolf is still here. And two, she is a part of my pack.
