Chapter 27: Passing of Time

Looking over to where my parents stood I could see the frustration on their faces since they can't move on their own.

The tears streaming down their faces at the inability to help me.

Their voices were muffled to my ears and their image was fading.

"You can't let this be the end to you."

"Since when do you care?"

"I only care because I'd go down with you."

"Of course."

I've always hated empty promises and that's all I supplied. I was considered a great Anbu yet I fell to a sword so easily.

All my dreams...in the end they were only dreams.

They were unreachable.

I refuse to reach the light, yet I feel like running to it. The closer I walk, the more I desire it.

'How can I be so selfish? People died for me to live, not for this.'

'Forget the light, I don't need it. I'm more comfortable with darkness anyway.'

I choose the cold darkness over the warm light. I won't die!

My eyes snapped open and I could see everything more livid. Though I opened them to see no sign of anyone.

The lifeless skeletons were the only other thing around me.

No sign of Takehiko or my parents.

The cold weather told me it was no longer spring.

"That's absurd! I couldn't have been here for a whole eleven months!"

'How is it already winter?'

"How long has it been?"

"Finally, you regain consciousness."

"Well answer me!!"

"I'd say maybe three years."

"No, that's impossible!!"

"When you are in the middle, time is much faster."

"The middle?"

"I believe it's named Purgatory."

"But someone has to have been taking care of me here."
