Nanami is currently pacing around her room thinking of a way to prank Obito when he gets back. Seeing as she has no luck she gives up.

"I should go check if Kakashi's gift is ready"

With that she headed to a weapon shop she had stumbled upon a few days ago. At the time, knowing the jounin exams were near she decided she'd have a weapon made for Kakashi as a gift. A sword to be exact.

She opened the door to the shop as the bells indicated someone had just entered.

"Miss Nanami your order is ready. Please come see it yourself." The old man waved her over with a smile and slight crinkles on the side of his eyes as a reminder of his old age.

Nanami obediently approached him with a smile of her own. She was in complete awe at the perfectly polished sword that was on the counter.

"Is this the one I asked for?"

"Why yes it is ma'am."

"It is absolutely stunning. Thank you very much."

"No need to. It was a pleasure to hand craft this piece of art. As you can see, the words you requested are engraved onto it's blade. Since you told me it was a gift for Kakashi I hope you don't mind that I took the liberty to engrave his surname onto the sword's sheath."

"Ohh no I don't mind at all. It just makes it look all the more stunning." She offered him a warm smile as she paid and repeatedly thanked him as well as complementing his flawless work.

She walked back home to drop off the sword in her room deciding she'd walk around while she waited for team minato's arrival.

As she passed several shops she heard a few whispers and received several glares from a few villagers. After all these years she still wasn't accepted.

The once slight breeze that blew through her hair soon became a stronger one as dark clouds loomed throughout the sky. Gentle drops of water softly fell from the sky in what is known to be rain.

As Nanami approached the front gates she couldn't hold back her smile as she noticed a bundle of silver hair. Team Minato had returned.

Not being able to hold back her excitement Nanami ran to the front gates occasionally stepping into a puddle. Her smile dropped as she noticed the sad aura emitted from those who stood before her. She had already witnessed this aura from her father once.

"Where's Obito?" She asked warily.

Just then she noticed Rin's puffy eyes indicating she had been crying. Nanami looked around awaiting an answer from someone.

"Nanami, Obito is .... Obito is no longer with us."

At that heart-wrenching sentence Nanami felt her heart shatter to pieces.

"Y-y-you're joking right? This can't be true.." Nanami trailed off in disbelief frantically looking around for the ravanette."... Obito this isn't funny anymore come out already!!"

She let the tears stream down her face as they were lost in the rain that poured even harder seemingly weeping with her.

"Kakashi please tell me this is just some sick prank! Kakashi please!" She was gripping tightly onto his shirt pleading with tear filled eyes.

Kakashi's heart was aching at the sight of her being so broken. He didn't know what to say. He couldn't help her the way she did for him.

"Nanami I'm really sorry. H-he's gone." At this point Kakashi too was crying.

"He promised. Kakashi he promised he'd always be here no matter what. He promised me he'd never leave me!!"

Nanami dropped to her knees in tears as Rin approached her and fell to her knees as well. She embraced Nanami's weeping figure into a tight hug as she cried with her.

"Nanami he isn't gone. As long as you keep his memory alive here.." She pointed to Nanami's heart with a trembling finger"... He will always walk by our side. With that smile he always had. He will never leave you. He will never leave us."

Not knowing how to respond Nanami threw her arms around Rin as they both continued to cry.

Kakashi slowly approached the two as he kneeled down to them. Pulling both to his chest soothingly rubbing both their backs.

"We should inform the Hokage now."

Seeing as neither was willing to move Kakashi looked over to Minato for help. Minato approached and scooped Rin into his arms as he started for the Hokage's office.

"Nanami, we should go."

Nanami slowly shook her head in refusal still slightly shaking in tears. Kakashi pulled her closer to him as he gently kissed her forehead through his mask.

"I won't let you walk this alone. No matter what happens I want you to know that I'll always be right behind you, ready to help you back up when you fall. No matter what you decide to do I will accompany you so that you don't do it alone. I'll walk any path with you. Just like you promised to never leave me alone I, too, promise to never leave you."

Nanami looked up into Kakashi's only visible eye in tears.

"Please Kakashi, I know that in this world it's impossible to not experience loss, but please promise me that I won't loose you. I don't want to experience loss again."

"No matter what, you'll always have me."

With that he scooped her up into his arms as he headed to the Hokage's office.
