Chapter Five

Aiden

It was Monday and lunch was almost over. The group had decided to go off campus and went to McDonalds. They had just finished and were deciding who was going in which cars. They finally decided that Adam and Sammy would go in Adams car and Kim would ride with Aiden in her car.

After a while of driving Kim piped up.

"So, you have a crush on Sammy." she stated it as if it were a fact and not a question.

"No I don't." Aiden managed to stutter.

"The way you stared at him the whole time we were gone says otherwise."

"Shut up."

"So I was right!" She grinned triumphantly.

"I hate you so much." Aiden retorted. He was still in shock that someone figured him out.

"How long have you had a crush on him?"

"Two years?" Aiden replied wondering what her reaction would be.

"I'm sorry. It must be hard to be around him all the time and act the way you do."

"Thank you." Aiden said quietly. They didn't talk again for the rest of the ride back to school.

The rest of the week Kim looked like she was gonna explode every time she saw Aiden with Sammy. She even went so for as to blurt out that she knew who Aidens crush was. Aiden knew that Sammy would probably pester her about it later but right now they were in class. Even if they were in class Kim still texted Aiden.

Kim: What do you like about Sammy?

Aiden: What do you mean? What's ther not to like... He's literally perfect.

Kim: Awwwwww. It's so cute the way you talk about him.

Aiden: Well thanks. I live to be cute and have you aw at me.

Kim: Yup. So when were you planning on telling Sammy?

Aiden: Idk. Maybe never.

Kim: Well you're gonna have to tell him sometime.

Aiden: I'm just so afraid. I'm afraid that if I do tell him it'll ruin our friendship. I'm afraid that I won't even be able to talk to him if I tell him.

Kim: I think your friendship will be fine lover boy. The worst thing he would do is just shrug it off and keep talking about football.

Aiden: Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.

Kim: Ok then you stop overthinking. Anyways, I have to go. I'm eating dinner and my parents are back and you know how strict they are about phones at the table.

Aiden: Kim, we're in the middle of class. You're not at home eating dinner.

Kim: Whatever, don't judge me. Bye.

This all made Aiden a bit suspicious but there wasn't anything he could do about it right now. The teacher had finally noticed that he wasn't paying attention.

"Aiden, can you tell us the answer to this problem please?"

Aiden quickly glanced at the problem on the board. "t equals 17, x equals -5"

The teacher looked at him in awe. He then proceeded to ask Aiden to answer all of the problems he put on the board for the rest of the class. All of which Aiden answered correctly.

Aiden burst into his room as soon as he got home. He then ran over to his computer and went on eBay. His favorite band My Chemical Romance was performing live in town next week. He didn't understand how he hadn't know this sooner but he didn't care, as long as he was there.

After hours of searching he finally found some tickets at a reasonable price. The only problem was that there were only two, meaning he would only be able to bring one of his friends. Even if that was the case he still bought them. He really didn't want to miss it. Now on to the problem of deciding who he should bring with him. He decided to start a group text with all of them.

Aiden: Guys guess what.

Adam: What?

Aiden: I have tickets to that MCR concert. I kind of only have two though.

Sammy: I know where this is going. Pleeeeaaaase pick me. I love them.

Kim: Ya, you should pick Sammy. Just incase you forgot, you and Sammy are the only ones who really like them.

Adam: Ya I don't really like them.

Aiden thought about this for a second before realizing this was true.

Aiden: Ok Sammy, you win.

Sammy: Yes!!

And with that, Aiden ended the chat.

Aiden was sitting at the dinner table with his mother and little sister Lucy. His father had left them when he was a baby and his mother had never found a new boyfriend.

Aiden had earlier decided that today was the day that he would come out to them. But even if it was premeditated and he had already thought out the perfect way to say it, it was still very hard. He just decided to say it and rip it off like a bandaid, like he did with Sammy.

"Guys, I have to tell you something."

"What is it honey?" his mother replied with a worried look on her face,"As long as you didn't knock up some random girl then you can tell us."

"No no, that's not it. Whew, just rip it off like a bandaid." he reminded himself.

"Come on!" Lucy said, the impatience and annoyance she always were growing upon her face.

"I'm gay."

Aiden looked up from his food to see both of them smiling at him.

"That's great honey, thanks for telling us." his mother said.

"I already knew. I mean have you seen the way you watch the players when we watch soccer, or any sport for that matter," his sister stated with a smirk now on her face, replacing the look of impatience. Aiden kicked her leg under the table, causing her to give a small yelp.

Aiden blushed slightly and went back to eating his food. He had to admit that his mother was a really good cook. He thought that if her job as a nurse didn't work out that she could even become a chef.
