Chapter Sixteen

Sammy's pov

I fluttered my eyes softly before actually opening them. For some reason they were very hard to keep open, I just wanted to close them again. I slowly turned my head, but when I did a sharp pain shot all the way from my head down my whole back. I winced at the pain loudly and heard something shuffle on the side of my bed. I looked over and saw Aiden laying in a chair asleep. He had dark bags under his eyes and looked like he hadn't shaved in a few days since he had a little bit of stubble on his perfect chin.

I looked around, wincing again when the pain shot through me again, to see that I was in a hospital room. I noticed that there was a tray of food on the nightstand next to me. I reached over and picked out the jelly and a spoon, not caring about the pain it immediately sent through my arm, because of my hunger.

After delving the spoon into the blue jello about five times, it was gone. I looked back over at Aiden to see that he was awake and staring at me.

"Was that jello good?" He asked.

"Ya." Was all I said. I waited for a moment before asking my question. "Why am I in the hospital?"

Aiden's pov

"Wait, you don't remember?" I asked Sammy.

"The last thing I remember is driving you to school in the rain." He said.

"Wait, that was a month ago." I said, tears starting to roll down my face as I came to a realization. "Which means that you don't remember us."

"What do you mean us?" He asked.

"Lizzie cheated on you. I came out to you and told you that I loved you. And we were happy. But now, you probably want to be with Lizzie." I said.

"Wait, we were together?" He asked.

"Yes." I aid looking down.

"Did I love you back?" He asked.

"You were the first one to say the words." My voice started to crack as I said this.

We waited in silence for what seemed like hours before Sammy spoke again. "How long have I been in here?" He asked.

"Two months. The doctors were just about to pull your plug." I told him, more tears rolling down my face.

"And... you waited here that whole time.. for me?" He asked. I looked at him to see that tears were rolling down his face as well.... but he was smiling. "I don't care if Lizzie even exists. She wouldn't have waited that long for me. If I loved you.. then my feeling haven't changed." He said.

"What?" I asked, confused.

"Oh my god. I love you, you idiot." He said, smiling.

I smiled and leaned my head over planting my lips on his.

Lizzie's pov

I walked through the halls of the crusty old hospital. It smelled like old people and nasty drugs. Two things I despise. I was only in the hell hole to see my Sammy baby.

I smiled at the people I passed while thinking about how to split up Sammy and his mystery girl. I decided to go with a very old cliche. If I couldn't have him, then no one could.

I finally found the hall that Sammy's room was in and took a moment to find his room. His door was closed so I looked in the small window. What I saw.. horrified me.

Sammy was laying on his bed.... and kissing Aiden. So not only did he leave me for someone else, but he left me for a guy? I ran to the bathroom that was a few doors down and locked the door behind me. I leaned on the wall before sliding down onto the floor. Soon I was in the fetal position, bawling my eyes out, causing my mascara to drip down my face and stain it.

-----------------------A few hours later

Sammy's pov

"Hello! Is anyone there?!" I screamed into the darkness that surrounded me from all sides. I heard nothing in return for my cries.

I felt tears start to roll down my cheeks, but these weren't normal tears. They hurt. They singed my flesh. I touched my face and pulled my hand back to find it covered in burnt flesh.

"Hahahahahahahahahaha." Something laughed evilly from nearby. I saw the darkness shift in front of my eyes. Suddenly a small piece of the darkness dashed around behind me, faster than the speed of light.

I slowly turned around, my hands shaking. The piece of darkness slowly moved closer to me. It was only a few feet away from me, still obscured. It slowly moved it's head forward and out of the darkness.

The darkness was.. me. It lifted one of its hands up, holding something, and slid it over its face. It was a faceless mask. It then lifted its other hand, also holding something, and plunged the item into my stomach. I looked down to see the knife. It was a knife I recognised. It was my father's hunting knife that he kept in a display in our living room.

The shadow me pulled the knife out of me, letting my blood fall away into the darkness as it poured from me. The shadow lifted up its mask. Now it looked like me as a child, around five or so.

"You let him kill me. You watched as he stabbed me with this knife over and over again." The shadow boy said, stabbing me again. "Now, avenge me."

When it pulled the knife out again the darkness was sucked away. I was standing in my living room at my old house. It looked exactly as I remembered it.  I heard a whimper and I looked over to see the small boy, crying in the corner of the room. He lifted his hand, pointing at somethimg across the room as he looked at me with his face covered in tears. I looked over to see what looked like the exact same boy, being stabbed by my father with the exact same knife that was just inside me.

The little boy being stabbed lookrd over at me for a moment, before he smiled. I let the tears roll down my face as the walls I had built in my mind all crumbled to less than a speck of dirt.

I remembered this night. I remembered the little boy that looked exactly me. My brother. My twin.

"Sebastien!" I yelled as the knife plunged into his stomach one last time. I watched as the already dull light, faded from his eyes.

Suddenly, everything lit up until there was only a glowing white surrounding me. Something moved towards me, glowing brighter than all of the light around me. When it finally got close enough, I realized that it was Sebastien.

"You couldn't save me Sammy. But maybe you can save someone else." He said to me, smiling with sad eyes.

"What do you mean?" I asked, tears running down my face again, but these ones didn't hurt. They reminded me of the blue lily's that my mother used to bring home. They reminded me of love. They reminded me of Aiden.

"Save him, before she takes him away forever."

"You mean Aiden." I said in realization.

Suddenly, everything started to fade. "Only you can save him now." Sebastien said before he fully faded away.

"Sebastien!" I yelled as I sat up in the hospital bed, sweating.
