Chapter 37 – Slippery Slope (Tristan POV)

"Are you just going to brood there all damn day?" my Uncle Sean barked, pulling me from my thoughts when he slams his palm right down onto the table in some house that was not near my mate – Kiley. They could not do this, separating mates... Chelsea – hell no one understood. "You do not get to sit and brood Tristan, you won't speak to your parents, either sets," I only exhale heavily, "So explain what the hell happened? Because I do not understand how – from what your parents are telling me, you're picking fights with Sawyer?"

"Your mate attacked hers and killed him, and after all is said and done, you what? Throw it in Sawyer's face – you say – what was it?" he pretends that he doesn't know but still I know better, "Oh that right, you're trying really hard not to be angry with her," he deadpans.

"Nothing? You have nothing to say?"

Fed up, I can feel the dam keeping my turmoil at bay gaining fissure after fissure.

"I'm going to give you a pass Tristan, a ten-minute pass. You say whatever you have to say and I give you my word it doesn't leave the two of us," he bartered with me. Shaking my head, I only frown, "Chelsea can read minds, anyone's," no deal.

"She's the Luna, the Chosen one Tristan if she's not already paying attention to you, telling me, getting shit off your chest is not going to change a damn thing. Stop all this fuckery, it is not you."

"What's your problem with Sawyer?"

I shrug, knowing that one way or another, I'd have to talk, I couldn't just think of something random on loop to keep my thoughts private, "We've always been a team, we each have someone that's more important that each-"

"Boy, that's a mighty large dose of shit you're trying to feed me right now," Sean rests back, his broad shoulders overtake the back, as file upon files on the desk surround us, but he hasn't opened a single one since Etta, Logan and Kaden left me here. "It's not all completely unfathomable, Uncle Sean. It's true, Sawyer left and when she did we were on good terms – sort of. Between Kiley and Sawyer, I – I, Sawyer my sister but she – you know how she is, I mean she's like Kaden, she's blunt and Kiley is – she's sensitive and even though I'm accustomed to Sawyers abrasiveness, Kiley was not and it's like they just clash at every corner and – and then instead of staying to fix our relationship she put some stranger first-"

"Stranger? He's her mate," Sean interrupts me, tapping one lone finger on the table, head cocked to the side as he observes me, "yeah," I snort, "but Sawyer did not know that when she left, hell she did not even realize it until after she disrespected Kiley-"

"I have some of the happenings, is this disrespect you're talking about when Sawyer was heating up the meal Etta left specifically for Sawyer, Kalani and Jesse?" he's on Sawyer's side, I think and it doesn't even take five seconds before Sean shakes his head, "Nah, you do not get to act like this is not fact and let me tell you some more facts, Kalani and Jesse were attacked around ten, they were brought to the island immediately and Chelsea gave them the bite that could change and heal them up. But that did not happen until what two or three in the morning?"
