Night #2

She stood up, careful not to wake the others. The whole world was asleep, and it seemed like it would have never been this beautiful in the games. She smiled, hearing rushing water and the cool breeze against her skin.

"Oh!" Nikki said, being flipped over.

"Shh!" Said a voice.

Nikki rolled around, trying to escape the person's grip. She fell into her back, and the figure slithered towards her. She couldn't make out who it was. A tall, thin, man, probably a male. Everything was foggy.

The figure landed on top of her. Nikki slapped him. She felt a cold blade touch her face.

"Get off, creep!" She shrieked, drawing her bow.

"Feisty, feisty." Chuckled the voice.

Nikki stared to sweat.

"Go away.." She said.

"No." Said the voice.

The person's eyes were glowing dark purple, and blood leaked out of his mouth. He smiled, tall and thin.

"Guess who?" He asked, walking towards her with a knife.

Nikki gasped, sitting up. It was all a dream. All a dream! She repeated to herself, clutching her knees and rocking. She closed her eyes for a moment.
"Dear god, Nikki!" Vanessa said, sitting up next to her. " You scared me!"
Nikki's eyes focused on Vanessa. "Sorry." She said.
Vanessa soothed her nervous friend. After a while, they rolled over and went to sleep.
Max woke up and looked around. The dark glow of the woods felt rather comforting to him. He layed hands over Nikki and Vanessa saying:
"Wake up" Max said, shaking them.
Nikki's eyes fluttered open. "What what?" She asked, becoming fully awake.
Vanessa just groaned and rolled over. Nikki shook her awake again, and this time she responded.
"What is it?" She asked, eyes still closed. "It's probably like twelve at night- I should be sleeping so make it quick!" She said, sitting up.
Nikki rubbed her eyes tiredly.
"I think I heard rustling in the bushes." Max said, trying to scare them.
Nikki and Vanessa looked around, fear on their eyes. Max held back laughter.
"There's nothing there.." Said Vanessa, still looking around.
Max snuck into a bush without being caught. He smiled, jumping out at the girls.
"Boo!" He yelled.
Nikki and Vanessa both instinctively screamed.
Nikki soon realized it was her friend and laughed. Vanessa rolled her eyes. Nikki smiled. Vanessa chuckled. Nikki continued laughing, not believing Max had fooled her.
"You should have seen your faces!" Screamed Max, clutching his stomach and laughing.
"I be we looked ridiculous!" Nikki was barely able to say over laughter.
After a good five minutes, Nikki let her head fall back. She sighed, staring at the stars. Max stared at her. Nikki's eyes lit up. She took off her hair tie.
"Max, can I do something to your hair?" She asked.
"Okay? Just to don't cut it." He said.
Nikki scotched forwards, and told Max to close his eyes. She put a ponytail on top of his head. It looked hilarious. Max laughed, Nikki holding up a mirror.
"Wow!" He smiled, admiring his new look.
They both burst out laughing as Max combed his hair over. It was a double comb over.
"I'm Trump-nugget!" He said, dancing around.
Nikki laughed again. She took the hair tie out. She rolled over, and bumped the spear. She froze, remembering Ty.
He'll be okay!" She reminded herself.
Nikki sat up again, seeing Max scootch towards her. Nikki felt her breathing slow, their faces were inches apart.
"M-Max..?"
"Ooh!" Vanessa said, poking Nikki's back.
"Dammit Vanessa!" She screamed, startled. "You scared me!"
Max looked around, and the ran his fingers through his hair.
"What were you guys doing?" Vanessa said, curious.
" We weren't looking- I mean doing anything." Nikki said, staring at Max.
"Yep. I was about to fall and.. Yeah then I caught myself." Max said, staring back.
Nikki sighed. I mean..
"Okay, I was just started when you guys were laughing so hard. It made me think you guys were going insane.." Vanessa said, getting up.
Max chuckled, letting his head fall back.
Damn, I screwed up. He thought, staring at the sky.
Nikki stood up. "I'm going to get some rest." She says, getting up.
" you go do that." Max replied.
Nikki smiled and waved goodbye. Max rolled over and soon the six kids were all asleep again.
Rick woke up, head pounding. There was a huge monster raiding their camp. He shuddered, ooze dripping from its mouth and sharp bloody claws. Someone had been recently injured or killed. Rick snuck over to all the other people. They woke up.
"Ah!" Vanessa screamed. Nikki put her hands over Vanessa's mouth.
The monster screamed, slobber and spit flying from its huge jaws. Nikki screamed as well. She positioned and loaded her bow, and got ready to fire. She grunted, shooting the leg. The arrow just bounced off.
"Oh no.." Rick said, backing up.
"Run!" Vanessa yelled.
"Wait!" Max screamed, looking for Ty.
Vanessa grabbed her friend, pulling him away. "Max!" She said, struggling.
Max paused, breaking out of Vanessa's arms. "I need to find Ty! I promised my mom I would come back with him!" He screamed, eyes watery.
Vanessa fought back, grabbing him again. Max let out a growl. He stabbed the monster with the spear. It collapsed, making a loud snarl. It made the trees shake and the ground rumble.
"Max! We need to go now!" Vanessa said, dragging him.
"Ty!" He screamed.
The monster yelled in agony, standing up. It stepped on Ty's body, crushing it.
Max dropped to his knees. "No!" He screamed.
Vanessa pulled him to his feet. The monster chased after them. Nikki ran as fast as she could, leading the group. Rick followed behind. The monster caught just up, slashing at Max's leg. He jumped over its claw. It only cut a small hole in Max's shoes. He screamed, taking that as a warning. He ran really fast. Vanessa sped up too, hearing loud snarls from the monster behind her. She looked up, seeing the sun come up. The monster shrieked, the sun causing its skin to sizzle.
The group continued running.
The monster collapsed. It let out distressed growls. It finally died. That didn't stop the group. They ran and ran.
