It's been a couple of weeks since I started at Hilton Head High School. Chantelle and I have become really close in just a few short weeks. I stayed at her house last weekend and I actually had a lot of fun. We stayed up late and just talked, it was really nice.

I haven't spoken to Jayden since the first day of school either. It's like he's avoiding me, but why would he do that? I've spoken to Julian a few times, he's really nice to me.

I'm actually going to an after school singing class this afternoon. Yes, I like singing, what of it? Anyway, I'm not sure who actually goes to that class. Hopefully it's just me and a few other kids. I haven't exactly made much friends since coming here. I don't really want to either. I like just having Chantelle around.

The bell rang for the end of 6th period. Chantelle and I packed up all our books and headed to our lockers.

"So do you wanna hangout this afternoon?" Chantelle asked as she shoved her books into her locker.

"I'm sorry, but I can't this afternoon. Remember, I have that singing class in the music rooms like right now" I replied as I closed my locker door.

"Oh yeah, that's right. I completely forget. That's okay, maybe another time" she smiled.

"Yeah sure. I guess I'll see you tomorrow" I smiled.

"Of course. See ya Britt" she smiled as she walked away. I smiled to myself and began walking to the music rooms.

I was almost at the music rooms, when I heard singing. It sounded like a males voice. I stopped just outside the window and peered into the room. I saw Jayden sitting on a stool holding a guitar. He was singing an unfamiliar song to me. So I just stood there and listened. His voice is amazing! It's so pure and delicate.

Jayden stopped singing and put his guitar down. He turned around and I quickly moved away from the window before he saw me. I breathed deeply and continued walking past casually. I pushed the door open and stepped in.

Jayden turned around and faced me. "You have an amazing voice" I blurted out.

He smiled and stood up. He ran his hand through his hair, and he looked almost embarrassed. "Oh, you heard that?" he asked.

"Yeah I did, and you are amazing" I smiled dropping my bag by the door and walked over and sat on a stool across from Jayden, who sat back down.

"Thank you. Are you here for the singing class?" he asked, changing the subject.

"Yeah I am. Where is the teacher anyways?" I asked.

He paused for a second and then looked away. "I'm the only one who does it. So the teacher doesn't normally show up. That's why it's just me here, I sort of just teach myself really" he shrugged.

I nodded my head in understandment. "Do you reckon you could teach me? Besides, you are really good" I asked.

He shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not that good. You wouldn't want me teaching you".

"Of course I would" I blurted out, again. Why must I do this to myself?

He looked up at me and laughed to himself. He was about to say something, but then his phone made a beeping noise. He looked at me sincerely before looking down at his phone.

I looked around the music room while I waited for him to answer his text. The room was filled with heaps of keyboards and guitars hanging on racks on the wall. There are music sheets everywhere on the big table, all jumbled up into one pile.

Jayden shifted in his seat and my eyes fell on him. I liked the way his brown hair sweeped across the right side of his forehead. And how his eyes looked so bright in the darkness of the room. It's weird to say that but its true.
