"Hey Britt!" I heard someone call from behind me.
I stopped in my tracks and turned around to see Teesha running down the school corridors.
"Hey Teesh, what's up?" I asked as we walked out the front gates.
"Did you here about the school dance that's been organized?" she asked.
I stopped and faced her with a confused look on my face, "No? When is it".
"It's next Friday. So a week from today" she smiled.
I nodded my head and continued walking across the road.
"So who are you going to go with?" she questioned.
I shrugged, "I don't really want to go".
Teesha held up her hand in front of me which caused me to stop and look at her weirdly.
"Did I just hear you correctly? Did you just say that you 'don't really want to go'?" she asked putting her hands on her hips.
Wow, this girl must really like her school dances.
"Yeah I did. Why?" I asked and continued walking.
She scoffed, "Why you ask? You must be joking".
"I'm serious Teesh. What's the big deal about the school dance?" I questioned looking to my left to see her reaction. "Its not like anyone's to ask me anyways" I sighed.
"Britt, you are a beautiful girl! Guys will be lining up to ask you" she smiled and gave me a side hug.
"Pfft! I doubt it" I said looking down at the ground.
"Don't talk like that, okay? I promise you that if you go, you will have the best night of your life, because you will be there with Chantelle and myself" she smiled.
"Who cares if you don't have a date? You have me" she smiled and stopped as we come to her street.
"Yeah you're right. Thanks Teesh, I'll think about it" I half smiled.
"Yay!" she squealed and started jumping up and down. "We can go shopping for something to wear tomorrow".
I nodded my head, "Sure. Sounds like a great idea".
Teesha stepped in for a hug. "Trust me, you'll love it" she smiled as we pulled away.
I nodded my head and waved goodbye as I continued walking home. I'm not too sure about this whole dance thing. I'm not the type of girl who regularly goes to dances or parties. But I guess I've got to let my hair down sometime, right?
I walked down the all too familiar street where Jayden lives. I was walking past his house on the other side of the road as per usual when I saw him pull up in his car. I stopped and watched as he got out of his car. I probably look so weird just standing there staring at him.
He looked over at me smiled which made my heart start racing. He slowly jogged across the road towards me. I stood there frozen as he got closer.
"Hey Britt" Jayden smiled as he stopped in front of me.
"Hey Jayden" I smiled shyly.
"So, ahh.. I just wanted to ask if you're going to the party thats being thrown next Saturday night?" he said as he shoved his hands in his pockets ever so cutely.
I smiled and nodded my head, "Yeah, I am".
"Cool. That's good to hear" he smiled and looked at his watch.
"Well I've got to go and help mum with something, but I guess I'll see you around" he smiled down at me.
"Yeah of course" I racked my brain for some words.
